Worth noting that supposedly rookie RB ypc is not very indicative of their future performance. Of course the counterargument to that is that some would say Jones wasnt even really good in college let alone last year.

Worth noting, Cousins should be allowed to audible in/out of plays that take advantage of defensive formations. As Cali points out above, the play in which Jones rushes outside, Cousins could have attacked the 7 man box. I would like to see more play changes at the LOS and more hurry up offense installed this off season. I say KC is ready for more responsibility.

So worth noting was Jones had a tendency to take plays outside when the hole was inside and vice versa. The guy who is breaking the play correctly noted that Jones got better at it in some cases as the season went on. Sometimes backs develop in the NFL but usually that vision and cutting ability is something you are born with. What does happen in the NFL is holes are much smaller in the NFL than in college. Whether it is Jones or any other running back it is a matter of learning what an NFL hole looks like and then taking it.

Jones is a change of pace back. Sadly we are about to rely on him to be a starter. Forget about the part where he is injury prone. Some guys just aren't starter material, and Jones is one of those guys.

I'm not a big Jones fan. I think Marshall has a chance to be pretty good, but who knows. In Scott, and Jay I trust.

This is why we need to be careful (and why I think SM is being careful) about rushing into an extension before we see more. Regardless of stats or work ethic there are concerning parts of Kirk's game. Maybe he's good enough to win with the talent we have or maybe he'll just keep improving. Maybe he'll take us to a superbowl. But let's not act like investing heavily in him at this point isn't at least a little risky.

You know, IM actually looking forward to Cousins playing on the tag at this point. Because I see this ending one of three ways

1. He improves. We end up franchising him again next year and he walks in 2018.
2. He plays to the level he played last year, we still franchise him and he walks in 2018.
3. He plays slightly below last years level, we dont tag him and instead we trade 5 first round draft picks and a legendary Pokemon for the rights to draft the next over rated 1st round QB.

At the end of the day, I think we get the next two seasons out of Cousins, at a cost of $44 million, then we draft the next Jamarcus Russell.

IM not being gloom and doom. I am saying the people saying well we need to see MORE before we commit to him are full of shit. Especially if you look back at the last three Super Bowl winning QBs we have had on this team. Cousins has as good as or better career completion percentage, INT ratio as JT, DW or MR... As i have said before... If Cousins had been picked in the first round instead of the fourth.. most of these wait and see types would be sending the GM death threats for NOT having him locked up months ago. And i think the best way to have a guy improve is to give him some sort of security. We have seen how a guy can try too hard and make stupid mistakes when he feels he is always looking over his shoulder or fearing the next mistake will be his last. Kinda funny how Kirk finally settled down and improved once the coaches and the GM told him... sink or swim its your job for the season.

Side note... I think Kirk is going to play well enough to make us regret NOT signing him long term.

Did you read the post cali posted on him or do you just disagree with all of it? Playing well isn't out of the question but it's just stupid to say there's no reason to be hesitant. Why would we be full of shit for not wanting to rush to a risky decision? There are some people full of shit on here but they aren't the ones looking for larger sample sizes.

Cousins himself has said that he needs to prove himself so I really don't see all of this worry about him leaving. The Redskins appear to be a team on the rise & not just for the next season or two. Why in the world would Cousins want to leave a situation like this when the likely alternative would not be a for a SB contender?

Some folks are looking at this from a fans perspective & somehow assuming that Cousins will feel miffed & ready to bolt as quickly as possible from DC if he does well. I see this as the exact opposite. If he does well I believe that the Redskins will be more than willing to pay him big $$ & he will have a lot of motivation to stay in DC for a contender. Also - none of us really know how close or far apart the sides are in negotiations & very likely they are friendly w/ each other & know that this is a business.

No need to amp up the drama for this one - let's just hope the team does well & wish for the best.

Agree I don't get this idea he's going to want to leave. He's gettin paid 19 mil this year. Next year if we're giving him money because he repeated I don't see why he wouldn't take it. I'm sure he'd rather stay than go play with new coaches and teamates on a team that's likely not as good.
