I am afraid this team has fallen to the temptation of thinking they can coast because of the big lead they had. I hope that is not the case. The offense is what bothers me. The pitching could have been expected to suffer with the injuries.

I think you're speaking too much in absolutes, there is a gray area here, you're being extra critical of Perez but giving the offense a pass essentially

7 run deficit? Exaggerate much?

Anyways, A 4 run deficit doesn't have to cost you a game either if you're a hitter, either way both have/are shit(ting) the bed
I wasn't talking specifically about tonight's deficit. I was actually using the other night against Minnesota as an example. The conversation was about how the hitters haven't lately been giving Chi Chi any run support. And 7 runs wasn't meant as a specific point in time during any specific inning. It was meant more of an example of how truly demoralizing it can be for hitters to face enormous mountains like 7-0 to climb.

And I'm hard on Martin Perez because he is extremely immature and can't control his emotions on the mound. It's ridiculous. It's like he's a damn child. Even Eric Nadel has ragged on Perez for not controlling his emotions. If you're a pitcher, errors are going to happen behind you. Bad calls go against you. Sometimes you will be required to get 4 or 5 outs in one inning. It happens. But you cannot pout and then use it as an excuse to let the game go completely. And that is exactly what he did.

Lastly, I never said the offense should totally get a pass. Tonight has been brutal. But they haven't been the problem over the last 6-8 games.

Keep thinking we can get back into this, but this offense has a tendency of just shutting down. Pretty pathetic effort today.

Tolleson fixed that for ya

On a positive note at least we are not ahead by 3 and Tolly is blowing the game.

I don't boo players who are trying and are just not that good. I don't understand you thinking he should be booed either, but that is just my opinion. I never booed Kirkman and he stunk it up around here off and on for close to 10 years it seemed. And personally, I am glad the fans around here are not like the ones in some of the places you mentioned.

So the fact that he was nowhere near this bad last year and is now costing us games within the first few innings each outing means nothing? You guys are acting like we just pulled some guy off the street and are being unreasonable for expecting even remotely decent outings. He is a professional pitcher capable of much better than this, I don't care how "not that good" he is. He just broke the all-time pitch count record for a Rangers pitcher not finishing 5 innings. He's not just kind of bad or having one bad outing. I don't boo random bad performances. But this is historically bad, so much so that he doesn't even deserve to wear the jersey.

Furthermore, plenty of pro athletes have publicly stated that they "would have booed us too" for awful performances. I don't get the whole "don't boo" stuff. Are you afraid of hurting his feelings? It doesn't mean you hate him or aren't supporting the team. Are fans not allowed to say "unacceptable" in such a manner? When is it ok to boo? Never?

Connor Sadzeck didn't have his greatest game tonight, but he only gave up 1 run in 5 innings and struck out 5. Kela goes one clean inning and strikes out 1.

Briunson with 2 triples tonight.
