In 16 days the worry will be over one way or another. My thinking is, Cousins either plays well enough to get the tag again, in which case we lose him.
Or he plays just shy of tag worthiness... in which case.. we lose him.
I think we either sign him long term now, or we are looking for a QB next year.
If you're not going to bet on your QB after last season, you have a serious management problem, imo. We've seen what the Sam Bradfords are getting - and he might not even start. Prices are just going to keep going up, and if you wait another year, you're increasing the starting point, and you're adding to guaranteed money. If you bet against your QB, the likelihood grows that either pay a ton more than you had to, and you risk having to start over with a new QB that might take years to adjust or might simply flop.
It just doesn't make sense to bet against your QB unless you really don't believe in him.
seems like a good deal to me. KC's been with the organization since 2012. sure, he’s only been with Jay for 2, and SM for 1…but, B. Allen and company have seen his work ethic the last 4 seasons, is that not enough? things that make you go hmmm.
maybe it’s because coach Jay is just the baddest qb coach in the nfl right now. Jay can turn to gold almost any qb with potential is why they are holding off, unless your qb is rg3.
Work ethic doesn't warrant $20M + per season. I am sure that McCoy also works hard but lacks the overall talent. If not extended in the next few weeks Cousins just needs to prove that last season was not a fluke - as Redskins fans we need to be honest & understand that is not a given (even though it may be likely).
I would think that they have not agreed yet since both sides are probably (rightfully) taking a firm stance. No worries - they will get this worked out either in the next few weeks or sometime over the next year (unless Cousins gets hurt or stinks up the place in which case it won't be warranted anyhow).
i agree, but on the other hand mr. Luck has never had a season like KC did in 2015.
That might be debatable statistically and it's about a lot more than stats.
Of course it is. Andrew Luck was the #1 pick in the 2012 draft.

And if Cousins had been a top ten pick in 2012, after the season he just had. Most of the wait and see crowd would be lined up to shoot Dan Snyder, Scot Mc and Jay Gruden for even considering not signing him long term already.
Thank you Shark, now let's drop the mic...and call it a night. cheers bro.
Drop the mic on what??
Would you rather the redskins had kirk cousins or andrew luck?
