He just has to beat out Litch and Ribeye. The competition is not great if he can't make this team now as a center then he doesn't belong in the NFL.

So far he has made a promising jump seems like he used his time wisely

Yeah, I don't understand why folks do not realize a 7th round pick might take time to develop. They may never develop but just writing them off or making statements where you draw a line in the sand just doesn't make sense to me.

He was a 7th round pick and is just entering his second year. If he doesn't become our starting center this year does not mean you write him off. That's ludicrous.

Yeah I don't believe it's now or never. But let's be honest, the chances of this guy ever being anything more than a role player/marginal starter that you will be looking to replace with an upgrade are really long.

I would agree that his chance are small, as is any 7th round pick. But if he has made improvements, he is worth giving more time to. It's not this year or bust necessarily.

It could be this year or bust b/c Center is going to be a top priority next off season. With all our cap room and the draft, center is going to be addressed in the offseason. Litch and Ribeye are below average centers in the NFL. Reiters' competition is not great to win this job. So Reiter as a starting center could happen this year.

You mean like DL was a priority this year? Dean, if there is one constant about the draft, it's that you don't go into expecting to solve immediate problems. The C talent may suck next year or we may not get a chance for any guys we might like.

DL was not a priority like Center was in the draft. I also said it could be solved thru FA. The whole point is that the Center competition right now is not good. Its a perfect opportunity for Reiter.

I agree that C talent for us is poor this year so reiter has an opportunity. But if he doesnt win the job this year, he is still young and developing. It is not this year or bust automatically for Reiter.

if i had a dime for every time d/line was said to be a priority i would be rich . to me , expecting a 7th round pick to have a make or break year in year 2 is way overly dramatic . hope for the best but plan for the worst dean

if he shows improvement and he shows potential then develop it if not then you look elsewhere

our o/line could look like this opening day williams , kujo , long , scherf moses or it could be like this williams lavou , stieger scherf moses

it depends on the jumps the young guys make

Or it could be crazy and be...Williams, Lauvao, Reiter, Long, Scherff

If Kojo puts Long to the bench this year can I get credit for saying that Long was a bad draft pick? lol. I was on record saying months ago that Long and Murphy would have to change positions to be starters on our team. It looks like that might come true. If Kojo wins the starting LG job it wouldn't make much sense to keep Lauvao. If that happens it would send Long to the bench as the backup OG. Or Long can flat out win the starting Center job. If this happens then I cant see Reiter having a shot unless they cut Litch. Anyway you look at it, Center is the weakest position on the oline. How many olineman do we keep 8 or 9?

just because you move to another position doesnt make it a bad pick . murphy has every chance at being a starting DE on this team . long is the starting LG in year 2 going into his 3rd year . for a 3rd round pick that is right on target . if he moves to center and starts again he would be right on target

I'm hopeful on what Murphy can do at DE. Not too hot on what's going on at DT though, and d-line in general.

for now plug powe in a NT and look for help in the upcoming draft or free agency . ioannidas could be the answer but we dont know it yet

yeah its a weak link but if the defense can be middle of the pack and the offense takes off like i think it can we can win 10 games . if not and we are in the late 20's early 30's again on defense we will take a step back and have a losing record again

We also need a running game but that's another issue.
