Well, for a writer like Reid - If his job is to get a reaction and lead to a discussion, he's done his job. Unfortunately Reid almost never shows any understanding of the game of football and even tries to make this a racial issue. Apparently football is brain surgery, so instead of talking football, let's make a 100 irrelevant excuses for RG3's failure. I wish Griffin well in Cleveland. If he's in a regular NFL style system, he'll likely fail, because he has no instincts for operating in the pocket. You either have it or you don't, and he doesn't.

Jason Reid was, from what I could tell, an RGIII hater. At times, he went overboard to mock. Other African Americans (e.g., Fred Smoot) did the same thing. Griffin's fall in DC was more his fault than any, but some has to be allocated to the team and Shanahan, though the more I hear, the more I lean to this really being the fault of RGIII. The racial angle is completely puzzling. This wasn't about race. Period. As just noted, some of his fiercest critics were African American.

For years Reid has made a living off of bashing the Redskins. We currently have a competent GM, and we have refrained from making the splashy types of moves bound to blow up in the teams face.

So he had to fall back to something to write about.

Shanahan: RG3 Was Allowed to Rip Coaches

Since we're all into not dredging up RGIII-related material, I thought I'd add my two cents with this piece about Shanahan's viewpoint on this issue. Some of the stuff is repeat material from what was previously reported, but some is actually newer material.

You do understand that this is from the new "undefeated.com" web-site whose main intent is to stir up controversy & race is meant to be a central theme for many articles (not saying that is good or bad but it is their intent). Given that Reid is one of their initial writers this story was almost a given for one of their premier articles.

Just read the story and thought it was very telling. It actually made me side with the organization.

The Doug Williams snub perhaps the most telling of where this kids head was.
Have to admit he's in the right place if he's going to turn this around.
Great story for this season

I wasn't going to do it but I couldn't help skimming through it. Same old Blame Everyone Else Robert. If he actually feels he was done wrong by an organization that gave him way more chances than he deserved fuck this guy.

Haven't read anything from Reid in a very long time, but have to admit this article presented some interesting new info regarding Moon and Doug Williams.

I've let the 'what could have been' go at this point and am left with sadness over all the fails on many peoples parts in the saga that was Griffin in DC.

Hope he gets his head together and takes advantage of his new situation.

It's more than time to move on and stop trying to place and allocate blame for what happened.

I actually think it was a great article. i never knew of the details of the sit down...WOW.

Agree. I am one of Reid's biggest critics but believe that he wrote a very fair and balanced piece that actually had some info that was very new to most folks. This was in no way a pro RG3 piece.

?? RG3 refused to comment for this article so any quotes from him were from several years ago. I believe the main premise of the article was that RG3 had many shortcomings & refused to listen to coaches & get advice from people who could help w/ his transition (D. Williams, Moon, etc). He now has an organization that is totally behind him - put up or shut up time. I wish him the best but don't really care that much since he is not on the Redskins.

Yep , and he should actually reach out to guys like Moon & Williams for advice (sounds like he has not already done so). Their advice is probably invaluable.

I agree with most that Reid was a Redskin basher. Knowing he is a Cowboy fan I don't find that odd. I do think this is a well written article and now we have heard the Shanahan side.

I couldn't believe Shanahan wanted to give up the farm for Griffin in 2012, he was obviously a spread system QB. Drafting Cousins was an indication that he didn't fully believe in Griffin and was hedging his bet. The trade and the entire fiasco had Snyder written all over it.

Dan has now brought SM into the picture. I hope he continues to let him do his job. I have no ill will for Griffin. Hopefully he learned from the experience and he can have a productive career. I do not think that will happen but I won't root against the guy.

Smdh. He just couldn't resist  Thought he'd learned by now there is NO winning on social media. Woulda been smarter to just say nothing.

Ah well, Cleveland's to deal with now.

Saw some Cleveland fans wondering if this comment was related to Kesslar starting or Josh Gorden issues. They don't know Griffin and his Twitter fingers at work yet.

Boy just cant help himself. Reminds me of the Jeff Goldblume line in Jurassic Park II, right now all the Brons fans are all like Ooww, and Ahhh.... come the season, we will see the running and the screaming.

Reid is a race baiter. He completely lost me when he brought up Ferguson.

As for Grif I hope him nothing but the best. I was really pulling for him to land in KC but I don't think he had any interest in being a back up

I really liked KC as the best place for him to land as well.
