To me if the length of the suspension has anything to do with whether the punch landed or not then that is ridiculous. It should be based on intent and how much the actions were provoked. A guy shouldn't be rewarded in any way because of his lack of ability to do what he sets out to do.

You are correct, but unfortunately it doesn't always go that way. Bautista deserved more than whatever Odor gets but I'm not sure MLB will see it that way.

Oh I'm sure that cocksucker Bautista is gonna be perceived as the victim for getting his clock cleaned and he will likely get the lesser suspension for not throwing a punch. Its BS however if there isn't something made of the habitual nature of the intent to make a "take out slide" on players by that dirty POS, after the league has put the new rule in place

Hopefully this thing gets him going but I'm really doubtful. I'm just wondering how much longer Banister is going to let him drag us down.

This Toronto bullshit is probably taking people's minds off the fact that Banister has been making awful moves / decisions lately.

Gotta disagree with you there. A dirty slide is still a slide, and a slide is a baseball play. Punching someone in the face, however deserved and awesome, is not. I'd be shocked if Bautista's suspension is as long as Roogie's, and it shouldn't be.

I have no problem with what Odor did, but the league's gonna come down on him.

If Roogie hadn't been as agile he could have been lost for the season. That means the intent of Bautista was much more dangerous and therefore logically should be punished more severely. I don't hold out hope for the commissioner to think logically though. Instead they will wait until a similar slide does take someone out for the season and then come down hard on the action too late. Baseball is always too late.

Can't really prove intent, or go by what might have happened.

Sure you can if you decide to. He even admitted he was going in hard to retaliate so intent is already there. What might have happened is extremely important. Proactive thinking instead of reactive thinking keeps the action from being repeated in the future when it might be successful and therefore more costly. Why wait until a defender cannot get out of the way and gets badly hurt before trying to stop the action in the future.

Just watched MLB network and they interview Greg Zaunn. He is a former major league player and a Bluejays broadcaster. He said that Bautista was definitely trying to hurt Odor. And he applauded Odor for taking her of Bautista himself and not waiting for his teammates to come help him.

He also played for the Rangers at one point in time.

Just realized that Prince Fielder and Drew Stubbs have the same number of HRs on the year - 2. And that was our clean up hitter and now in the power bat spot of #5.

Wow....so it's worst than we thought.....thanks; I think.

I thought, and believe said, from early in the season, "our BP was going to be in-flux and yo-yoing pitchers up and down."

Honestly don't think Willy is as bad as he's looked. But he certainly "earned" his demotion at the same time.
