Remember when we were the team that waited until the brink of TC or sometime thereafter to get these deals done? Of course, when it came to signing people like Deion Sanders, those deals were done lickety-split.

it also helps that due to collective bargaining the slotting has been pretty much already determined for rookies so the contracts are almost all just cut and paste now for figures.

Washington Redskins All-Time Draft History | Pro-Football-Reference.com

Here's a reminder of how bad things were in the not too distant past. Check out the drafts from 2001-2009 (even 2000 & 2010 if you take away the 1st rounders). This will make you cringe & it is no wonder that this team was devoid of talent for so long. There are a handful of picks that were good ones (Taylor, Cooley, Smoot, etc). However - they are few & far between.

Compare this to the current era, and it should make you appreciate the current FO. While everyone gripes about this pick or that pick I have no doubt that the majority of the picks will contribute. I will be shocked if say in 5 years we are looking at a similar % of failures - we will see.

Good stuff. Did you see the drafts from '72-'79 when Bruce's dad was in charge? The highest pick we had during those years was a 4th rounder.

A blindfolded seal throwing darts at a dartboard as a way to make picks. Could make better picks than the ones previous Redskins FOs have made.

George Allen did not like the draft or young football players. His philosophy both helped and in the end cost him. I liked George (besides the Sonny thing.) We only had one year with Lombardi and I would have loved to have more but George picked up, made the team good and brought the Washington vs. Dallas rivalry to its highest peak.

You got it. There should be a restraining order on Vinny Cerrato to not be within 5 miles of any NFL facility. He must of had blackmail type photos of someone to be employed so long in that type of capacity.

He was Snyder's lap dog. When Marty saw how bad he was and fired him, Snyder "fixed" that by then firing Marty and re-hiring Vinny in 2002. That year, we got Spurrier. And we all know how that turned out.
