I get why OU fans want to defend this guy. And I get why everyone else in the world wishes nothing but bad things for this kid. OU should have released Mixon the moment he was suspended for cause.

I hope Mixon stays healthy and runs for about 180 yards all season. I hope he is the biggest bust and OU is saddled with defending a guy that couldn't beat anyone but a woman. And I don't give two shits about her saying racist things or hitting him first. I also don't care if any OU fan feels he has "paid the price". No, he sat out a season. He suffered absolutely nothing for his actions.

She shouldn't put her hands on him if she doesn't want reciprocation. It's easy for guys like you to arm chair this, but the fact is he reacted reflexively in self-defense. I doubt many of you would have the self awareness to react with such poise in such a situation at his age after getting sucker punched. His guilt is not in question. He is guilty without question. The issue is her guilt was entirely ignored by the DA.

RBS are already a dying breed in the NFL. Teams use 2, sometimes 3. Only the elite of the elite talents get drafted in the 1st round these days and that is without character issues.
Teams won't even touch Ray Rice, even for a minimum deal because of the baggage. Greg Hardy is one of the best DEs and only the Cowboys took a chance on him after his debacle with his girl.
If Mixon played a premiere position, more teams would take the risk. When investing millions on a player, if a video of him is out knocking a girl unconscious -- his draft stock will drop immensely

I mean what if this was a big girl, as in strong or can throw a punch, and really knocked him a good one would this be different? Not to me. My uncle went to high school with a big behemoth of a bitch who decided it would be fun to go around sucker punching guys. The guys never defended themselves because like many of us they were raised not to hit a lady. Obviously this was no lady, but that's another post altogether. Anyways, she actually knocked a couple guys out with these bull shit sucker punches and was feeling pretty full of herself. One day she decided to go after my uncle's best friend and he knocked her ass out. She woke up crying and balling for the cops. The local cop got input from several people and told her she shouldn't have started it.

That being said, if he was sucker punched, I'd agree with the reaction comment. Seeing as they say the video is over 2 minutes long and she pushes him in the chest right before she tried to slap him. I don't think it was a sucker punched. Of course we won't know till they release the video.

Mixon won the genetic lottery. His talent and image is a winning lottery ticket. It sucks for him, but that video is going to cost him some serious cheddar and that doesn't even include the civil suit that is sure to come. It is literally the worst time to do something like this if the NFL is your end goal.

He is telling people to speak to his lawyer because his lawyer knows damn well there is a civil suit coming and it's not in his best interest to discuss it publicly. We're not talking about Mixon right this second. What I'm saying is if she physically struck him first she deserves charges. That's all I'm saying about this. Never mind Mixon's response which deserves and received criminal charges. If she physically struck him first in any capacity, she deserved to be charged.

And I'm not condemning OU for not kicking him out and giving him a 2nd chance. I think many schools would do the same with a player the caliber of Mixon.

She had family in high places. That video wasn't sealed explicitly to protect Mixon. The DA punked out on this one. At the time leading up to the investigation, Mixon's attorney made a statement that they intended to ask that the DA press charges against her. This of course all coming on the heels of the Rice incident. Dollars to donuts Mixon was plea bargained down to avoid he and his attorney making a big stink about this. You want to know why Mixon didn't receive a heavier punishment? Besides it being his first offense, that's it right there.
