Clap, clap, clap-clap-clapLet's go Rangers
There's some truth in this really.
He'll be 30 and a FA at the end of this season. So it's time - past time really - for him to show what he is really going to be. Not trying to sound down on Holland, but when you've seen him dominate at times and then struggle to look like a # 5 starter at others, it just frustrates me.
He isn't a free agent after this year unless we decide not to pick up the option. We have control over him for two more years after this one at a very reasonable price. There's some truth in this really.

I would think both Hamels and Yu also try to do that. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think they do. I will take 7 innings and 2 ERs though every once in awhile though. He's a frustrating player. Would love for him to just be consistent. We don't need 8IP/1ER from the guy every 5 days, and I think he tries to do that.

They do, I'm sure. And I certainly respect that competitive nature. But with Dutch, I'm not sure he's quite able to be that guy. To use an analogy, Dutch strikes me as a guy who likes to drive fast, but when he has to swerve he ends up over-correcting and has a hard time getting the cback on the road. If he doesn't have to turn the wheel, he's fine

I don't think he has looked anything like a #5 starter in a very long time except in conjunction with trying to come back from an injury and most pitchers do that. The only thing that has frustrated me about him is him being injured and I could say the same about Yu and Perez and Colby. It may frustrate me, but I don't blame the pitchers for being injured.
I think Derek has proven himself to be a very good pitcher when healthy.
