LOL at the guy obviously trolling here saying this. Michigan has about 10 billionaires in the state currently and numerous more with ties to the state. You make a stupid ass comment "wondering out loud" about the Tigers selling and if there are people willing to step in... then you cry when you are called out on it? Its a fucking stupid thing to even talk about. The entire Ilitch family is connected to positions in the Tigers organization other than his wife.. who can't be because of her ownership of a casino...A silly rejoinder that has no bearing on the question raised. Large corporations disinvest and restructure all the time. My question was directed at that possibility, and given the unstable economic conditions in SW Michigan, I was wondering, out loud, if there would be local business people willing to step in to keep the team in Detroit. Especially if the on-field product withers.
As stated before, no desire to continue a discussion with you. I clarified my earlier statement....and I am sure you will follow with some snide, asshole remark. Be my guest to have the last word on this topic, as you must. (OCD?)
Just for your dumb ass I am going to explain to you why the Ilitch family will never sell the Tigers...
A) The team draws fans downtown to the area of their casino
B) The team is a huge marketing tool for their Little Caesars business... you might have heard of it
C) Mike Ilitch's son has been president of the team since the fucking 90's.
Why would a company that just spent hundreds of millions of dollars on a new stadium for the other sports franchise sell their other? The sports teams are a feeder system and marketing tool for their other businesses... If they break even on them its a win... If you don't think the fact that Little Caesars is plastered all over everything of the Tigers helped Little Caesars become the 3rd largest pizza chain in the world you are a moron.
That being said... I can almost 100% guarantee you that if the Tigers came up for sale that Dan Gilbert would buy them in a heart beat. Its almost a 100% guarantee he would at least be in the bidding along with Tom Gores.
Bringing up Michigan's economy like it matters to someone worth a billion dollars is pretty funny.
