Make him a WR.

Sure if he doesnt show up, we have to park the $16 million and not spend it. But we also dont have to pay it to him. So if he refuses and sits at home, the money rolls into 2017.

At which point, we franchise him ( with the money we rolled over any way) as a WR.

And IF he signs with another team in 2017, we negotiate a 1st and 3rd for his rights, or watch him fade into history.

Either way... we win. :D

That seems dirty, but however Scotty Mac decides to roll. I'm down with it.

And if he does show up??? You have to pay him and either cut him or use up a valuable slot on a guy who has no shot at being a WR (or QB for that matter).

If he shows up, you pay him and play him. Alot of you guys seemed to miss the part where the real reason he went back to Baylor for his senior year was that teams viewed him more of a WR than a QB leading up to the 2011 draft.

6'2" 220 running a 4.5 40 sounds like a possible WR product to me. And its not as if he could show up and refuse to play the position.

So yea count me among those who would rather see us control his fate considering the time and resources we put into him.

Yea it would be low down kinda dirty... but a pragmatic business move in favor of the team as a whole.

Too risky. First, he no longer runs a 4.2. Second, no way we can afford to pay $16m to a WR that won't have a clue how to run a route or take a hit. While I applaud your creativity, that just ain't going to work. Just cut his ass and move on.

Let it go Shark - he will be cut relatively soon. Good luck RG3

Yeah, that smells like BS.

It is & Shark knows it. Just because the Redskins have not already cut RG3 does not mean that they will not relatively soon. They are doing as they should - wait it out just in case they get lucky & get a few crumbs in return for him. However - I don't expect this to happen & feel certain he will be cut.

A smart FO (like the current one for the Redskins) doesn't think like a lot of fans. They are not about getting even or worrying about past failures. They are all about making the best business decision while being realistic & moving forward.

Honestly - I have to feel that Shark is being totally sarcastic. Otherwise - this is Cerrato type logic.

Heading into the 2011 draft the year BEFORE we drafted Griffin, most reports that you saw on him had him listed as a guy that played QB, but most teams would consider more as a WR. Now he was eligible to declare for the 2011 draft, but I will say again the word was he wasnt going in the 1st round and was viewed more as a potential WR than starting QB.

NOw I get it, some of you still want to show him love and feel he was wronged. IM just looking at whats best for the team. And I dont think you ever just burn resources and let a guy walk for nothing if there is a way to actually get something out of it to help your team in the end.

I would rather see us pay 16 million and watch him rot another year, than watch him walk for nothing.

Again - you are thinking like a fan & introducing emotion into the decision. I am no way stating that RG3 was wronged. I am saying cut your losses & move on. Trying to get some type of revenge on RG3 or squeaking out a 7th round pick (which likely won't happen) won't make up for badly needed cap money or risking screwing up locker room chemistry again.

I sure hope that you are not even remotely serious on this one. A goal of an NFL team should never be to make up for all past failures. Teams need to live in the present & future - not in the past.

too funny....

Hope all is well & all the best to you. My recent past beef was not with you but with that other Cowboys fan who made himself look a fool by proclaiming that Weeden was a better QB than Cousins. Whatever.

Not going in the 1st rd I can see. Being viewed more as a WR, not a QB, not so much. And it has nothing to do with love for Griffin and thinking he was wrong. Fuck Griffin. You've made this claim multiple times now since I've been on SportsHoopla. I wanna see more than your say-so on the matter is all.

Partly like a fan, and partly like some one who doesnt believe in getting the raw end of the deal... again.

See i think he would actually refuse to play WR. And as I said sure we would have to park the 16 million.

But reality is, I would propose it to him and either say, play WR or agree to rework your deal to facilitate the trade. Just feels wrong to release him so he can walk off to once again say.. well the real problem was them not me.
