Denver's D is designed to be a penetrating, pressure defense. The one thing you can't do against the Panther's run game is penetrate and lose gap control. Before the very first snap is even taken, Denver's defense is going to have to adjust the way it plays normally.

Broncos OL against the Panther front 7. A HUGE edge goes to the Panthers. It is highly unlikely that Denver is going to be able to run the ball against this unit. And without a run game, Denver will struggle to score even 20 points.

TBH, Manning scares me in this game. He seems to have learned how to be the dreaded "game manager," but he's still Peyton. He could have a really solid game and that be enough with that Defense.

Turnovers. The Panthers thrive on them, and although he's been mostly clean since coming back, Manning still was an interception machine this year. If he starts turning it over again, it's going to be a long day for the Broncos.

The Panthers offense is more explosive than Denver. The opportunity to score a lot is there for the Panthers, and Denver's offense won't be able to keep up. The Panthers and Broncos are both capable of winning a low scoring, defensive struggle, but if the game starts turning into a shoot out, the Broncos are toast.

I think you might be surprised to know that FootballOutsiders has Denver's dline ranked #1 in 2nd level yards and #2 in open field yards. Its also funny to note that the 2 worst run defenses in pressure situations (3rd/4th and short) are playing in the Super Bowl. The game is likely to come down to missed tackles if turnovers aren't the main thing. Certainly turnovers are likely to favor Carolina.

2) Against odds, Panthers clobbered AZ and obliterated its offense, which is way more powerful than Denver is.
