a slower pitch with more movement is much harder to hit than a faster velocity with no movement.. why do you think knuckle balls are so hard to hit iffy?
fister never had a 85 mph breaking ball...

like was stated... velocity has nothing to do with fister's success... movement and angles are what gets him swings and misses.. he NEVER has had a high k/bb ratio... try looking shit up once in a while before you babble about shit that has nothing to do with reality.
7mil for a veteran pitcher is peanuts.
if buerhle was going to the royals.. i doubt they would have just spend money on shit bag kennedy.Don't know who wrote that article....but he has little knowledge of the D'Backs. Corbin started 16 games (3.67 ERA) last year - so he is NOT coming back from an injury. Unless he just recently fell off a chair or something. As for signing him....I think D'Back money would be better spent on a Howie Kendricks.
Buehrle wants a contending team - not too far from his home in Missouri. I smell Royals? Cubs?

That smell is probably coming from your diaper.. tell your male nurse its time for a change.Buehrle wants a contending team - not too far from his home in Missouri. I smell Royals? Cubs?
Regardless - his velocity is still down over the last two years. (Unless someone wants to argue that it is harder to hit a 78 mph breaking ball than an 85 mph breaking ball)
Mark Buerhles high school coach works in the garden center at the Ft Myers Home Depot.
Nice guy. He'll talk your ear off though.
He definitely would.Buerhle would be a nice add - on paper - for Detroit, but with Norris, Boyd, and Fulmer pushing for rotation spots- I'm not sure I'd spend the money on Buerhle. (Unless they are going to throw Pelfrey's $16mil in the toilet.)
I have no idea if Fister will be able to get his control back... but guys like him tend to age well. Not saying he will be a #3 starter again either.. but I would certainly take him over Pelfrey.I never thought of Fister as anymore than a #3. With low velocity like that you're dependant on pinpoint accuracy and deception. Can't keep that up for too long.
Not knocking the guy, too much, but there's plenty of good reason why Seattle and Detroit both sold when they could. Even if it didn't work long term for either club. Fister wouldn't have either.
(My opinion of Fister is not welcomed often, anywhere. But it's been the same for years.)
Tough call for me on Pelfry Vs Dougie. I want to think Doug would be better over the course of two years, but I'm not sure.I have no idea if Fister will be able to get his control back... but guys like him tend to age well.
