'Tis but a scratch...
my grades on Avila's moves so far
- frod trade - B+ (older guy that was traded for a mid tier player from a position of depth)
- Maybin trade - B (odd fit but didn't give up much)
- zimmerman signing - A ( price he got him at was fair and obvious need)
- pelfrey signing - D+ (makes no sense to give a low tier pitcher a 16 mil contract a few weeks into free agent market)
- aviles signing - D ( guy does nothing average.. mostly everything below at this point. )
- Saltalamacchia signing - B+ ( good signing on the cheap)
- Upton Signing - A ( good fit and solid contract deal )
- Justin Wilson trade - A ( gave up mid tier prospects that were from positions of depth)
- Mike Lowe signing - C+ ( decent player but nothing special was given a deal above what he should have)
I can't argue too much with those grades. Maybe an A- for Upton. Lowe fills a need and would get a 'B' from me if they had signed him for a bit less. I agree, he was signed above market value for what he brings.
