Wish it would be the officials from last game. I don`t think Denver had a "accepted" penalty until 4th qtr and Pats weren`t called much either. Great job that crew to let them play and and stay away from the tacky calls. Oh well, def take Hoch over Vinny. Vinovich hates Denver.

Yeah I really appreciated that they let them play. There were a couple of calls that I thought were completely bogus. The whole punt return fumble that was touched at like the 3 yard line then recovered in the end zone. Pretty sure that is supposed to be a safety. At least on kickoffs if you are not in the end zone then go back into the end zone after touching the ball and are down then it is a safety. I figured it was the same for punt returns. I also think the whistle when Big Ben threw it backwards was pretty darn quick considering Big Ben is known for escaping in those situations many times before. Obviously we could find plenty of holding calls both ways but like you said they let the players play. This is playoff football where to me they should be letting them get a little more physical.

Patriots placed Jerod Mayo on IR today...

Good but injury prone player. Earlier in the season when we played them Mayo got hurt during the game and although Hightower is the best LB vs the run it seemed like we really were able to run better once Mayo was out of the lineup.

Jamie Collins was also missing (illness) from our last meeting with New England. He is a very good cover LB ... He played very well the last time we played the Patriots in the AFC Championship.

Collins is good in coverage. To me, he is very versatile, since he is also a good pass rusher and also plays the run well.

Brady gets his suspension - the hard way - underneath the Broncos pass rush. ;)

Besides the obvious, win the trench battle on both sides of ball, field position, turnovers and clock control, Denver needs to send a message early to Edelman and Amendola that you will get hit hard and often when you work the middle of the field. Gronk is a different story so they need to really gang tackle that dude and rough him up some. Nothing dirty just let him know no gain without pain. NE can be bullied if you got the moxy to pull it off. Denver needs to be the mean kid on the block in this one.

Mayo has never been injury prone until recently. He has been an aggressive player and I think he is done.
Great career but recently only effective against the run. He will be missed for his leadership and his depth.

If we take Gronkowski ( scheme wise ) out of the game, and we get them into some 3 and outs, we win - that includes getting on Brady relentlessly, and getting some batted balls at the LOS ..

In the game vs the Chargers, it was obvious that our pass rush was clicking early on, and it never let up .. We need the same fire ..

We need to light it up on the ground like Knowshon did a few years ago against them, keep the drives going and have McManus kick extra points and not FGs

We were 3 for 15 on 3rd down conversions vs the Steelers .. Not good

All this is easier said than done ...

What worries me most is the dozen or so times I'm going sit there and say "We've gotta draft Kearse"

Well huge news from practice today. Every player was a full participant today even Chris Harris! Looking good for us to be about as healthy as we have been all season heading into the biggest game.

^ It's less about hitting Brady than rattling him. Hitting him is one way to do it, but it isn't the only way. If our line can continually get up in his face it will take its toll on him throughout the game, even if they're not quite reaching him. If he's forced to throw before he's ready, for example. Doing this, even against that Pats O-line is easier said than done. Brady has the ball out fast and Gronk will be almost impossible to cover. But if our line can wear theirs down it'll lead to good things late in the game. And if the game is close late I like our chances.

They said Brady avg 2.0 seconds getting ball out vs Chiefs last wkd. I agree Denver has to get pressure up the middle to rattle Brady but because he gets ball out so fast, the real challenge for Denver is for the db`s and Lbs to play close to the line of scrimmage and disrupt the routes/timing of the wr`s and make Brady hold the ball longer and hopefully the pass rush gets to him. It`s almost impossible for the rush to get to Brady in 2 secs so they better play those guys extremely tight. If Denver can do that and force Brady to hold onto ball longer than he likes, Denver will capitalize with either sacks or forced throws that lead to bad decisions and turnovers. Easier said than done but that`s exactly what you need to do to beat Patriots IMHO :)

Isn't this the healthiest the Pats have been on O playing in Denver during Manning era?
