Honestly... Not one bit of regret. The one that cost me strips ended up being a situation that most Marine NCO's would live with in the situation. The second incidence was a matter of me doing my job and under the circumstances I would do again to this day. I admit there are some things I regret doing, but in those two cases, I was right in both even if I ended up taking the lumps in the end.

So . . . you're not exactly a Vinny Cerrato, are you? :)

As Shark said there is a chain of command and that is to be respected. At the same time if you feel strongly about something you can question or protest an order if done the right way. I was a weapons system expert for 16 years. In one particular incident I refused to sign off a work order because I believed flying would be a safety hazard. We never agreed, they flew the plane the way they wanted to and I did not get in trouble because they understood my position. There is a big difference between disregarding orders and protesting if done correctly.

Yes, there's a very fine line sometimes between the two. Frequently, it's not whether you protest, it's how you do so. The latter can be the difference in getting you disciplined or fired. Of course, if you're the Dan Snyder of old, the former will get you a one-way ticket out of Dodge.

My younger brother worked for Dan when Vinny was there so I am familiar. Actually I know four people who worked for Dan.

You have read all the good stuff, it is pretty much true. The man is who he is. Some can deal with that some can't. My brother chose and some years later another one of the 4 decided to go in another direction. Two are still there. If you ask if the rumors we here are true they will tell you "yeah but ... you have to know the guy."

Personally I have only had two complaints for him as owner. He wanted to play GM too much and just like in all aspects of those who work for him he has his favorites which sometimes hurts the team. I believe Bruce is the filter these days and if he lets Scot do his job the team will improve. If not then we return to what we have had in the past.

I remember when Marty exercised the control he'd been given contractually by Snyder. He fired Cerrato and then cut Jeff George. I applauded those moves then, but knew that would probably get Marty the heave-ho, which he did. That really got me hating Snyder, so much so that I wouldn't even patronize Johnny Rockets, which he had owned at one time or another.

Hopefully things are changing. I am not completely hanging my hat on that but just maybe ....

Dan has owned a few businesses. I used to do some work for his old company Snyder Communications. An old neighbor friend and I were grilling one of the guys (also an old neighborhood friend) that used to work for him and telling stories about dealing with him in the way back in our own walks in life. Before he was the owner. He wasn't much different then. I think like a lot of guys who have had as much success as he has it depends on what side of the ledger you fall on. People that successful have usually left a few bodies (so to speak) along the side of the road on their march to success.

In some ways Dan is no different than we on the forum are. He wants to show his football expertise.

I've known some very successful people and most don't get there because they're nice guys and gals or because they're lacking in ego. I hope I'm not stepping on any toes of yours by saying that Dan intruded in football operations because he was the ultimate fan. That can be great in terms of his heart being in the right place, but we all know how bad that can be as well. His acquisition of McCloughan was a great sign going forwards. For now. Those are two key words. Let's hope it lasts.
