I am not sure what is more hilarious this thread or dean's RT thread. Is the point to make everyone agree with you? If so that is clearly not happening in either case.

I think everyone understood your point after post one. On post #480 no one has changed their opinion. :noidea:

my above true case , proved it you are using a mythical one

my opinion on my treatment after research proved correct over the doctor's supposedly more informed opinion if i deferred to him i would still be suffering

Ok, man, I'm sure there are quacks for doctors. Those, however, are the exceptions to the general rule that you should defer to experts.

So let me guess: you're not a proponent of the "In Scot We Trust" slogan that's bandied about here all too often, right? I'll go on record as saying that I'm a big proponent of that (though I recognize there are some exceptions to that as well. And I've got no reservations in admitting that his opinions on football operations and personnel are far, far better than mine.

We are going back to that or any other similar angle because it's a point that illustrates the folly of your view. And if you've not problem with the "In Scot We Trust," that completely refutes your points about trusting other experts. You've lost this debate a long, long time ago.

no it doesnt it just means i dont blindly follow anyone . big difference . this isnt an either /or thing here you are just trying to pin me into a corner so you can prove a point very few agree with you here

you believe if you line up some experts that somehow that invalidates my position . shawn springs says let him go but for a shawn springs i have a SM saying/ doing the opposite

i have given 2 real life situations where blindly following the subject matter experts would have been wrong facts you IGNORE because it doesnt fit your view

there are many instances in my life where sticking to my opinion proved correct . there are instance where it didnt

so for the last time i am not a sheep never will be a sheep never was a sheep . you want to be a sheep , be a sheep its your choice but dont come to me declaring some kind of victory because you lack the conviction and ability to think freely on your own

if you dont have the ability to think for yourself then follow the experts i have the ability to think for myself

my opinion is as good as anyone elses period now enough of the debate you arent changing my view so stop wasting my time and yours

As I said on my last thread it is funny that red keeps telling us we can't argue and we lost the debate but here we are at post #486 and with all his great arguing skills (his assumption, not mine) he hasn't convinced anyone but himself that Barry should be fired before next season.

Sometimes there isn't a winner, just varying opinions.

You don't get it, do you? As I've explained umpteen times, experts aren't people you follow blindly. You form your own opinions first and then, after consulting with them, defer to their opinions because of their expertise. Are there exceptions? Of course. Just like you'd trust in Scot, you wouldn't do so with people like Cerrato because you know he's incompetent like the quack doctor you went to. But, as a general rule, you defer to those who know more than you. As to the issue we're talking about, I formulated what was really a common sense opinion on Barry's lack of adjustments. Just about everyone who knows something about GB or the game itself has agreed with the point I've advanced about Barry's failure to adjust to what Rodgers did. Thus, far from blindly agreeing with people like Springs, I'm using their opinions to bolster what I previously came up with. And, in doing so, I ultimately deferred to their views on the matter. You can't seem to get this point as you continuously believe that if I buy into someone else's view that knows more than either you or I on a particular issue that I'm some "sheep." I think I've consistently refuted that and the fact that you'd trust in Scot is just another shining example of the point I'm making here.

As I mentioned in several posts, while I did make the point that I believe Barry should be fired, the principal thrust of my argument here is that Barry cluelessly failed to adjust. This was supported by my view that others with more expertise than any of us here advanced that opinion and that we should, as a result, defer to that opinion. I also noted that, although I thought Barry should be fired (which I still believe I've got good reasons for), I'd also defer to Scot on that issue despite my view on whether Barry should stay. I'll be the first to admit I'm wrong if Barry improves and -- if he does stay on -- I'll be more than happy to be proved wrong. But this whole debate is about what Barry failed to do and the fact that there are others more knowledgeable than any of us who offer opinion that merit deference.

no redskinsfan you dont get it . i operate differently i dont defer my opinions that is following , i make my own i gather the facts and make my own choice .

being an expert doesnt make you right as i have shown with my doctor . sometimes experts have a predetermined course of action which my doctor had , ( he isnt a quack ) or a lawyer because they have agendas .

*sigh* Yes, sometimes experts get things wrong. But most of the time, they don't. If your view is that you can still generally challenge them, you're as whacky as that guy I knew that had Internet printouts about his child's condition prior to visiting the doctor. You can start off by challenging Scot McCloughan. Don't want to be a sheep and just following what he says, right?

Hello?! I don't let others think for me, but I'm smart enough to know when to defer to someone else who's got more expertise than I do. If you want to go questioning authority and experts all your life, you can count yourself among pot-smoking hippies who never grew up from the 60's who love to question anything and anyone. Congrats.

I went to school at Berkeley and met a lot of those hippies stuck in the 60's. You sound like one of them. "Hey, bud, don't be a part of the sheeple. Think for yourself. Question authority. Always." Look where that got them.

Well, guess what? That's what the hippies say too. The only ones they'll really listen to is their local pot dealer.
Ok, this has really gotten absurd.
