And btw, the biggest asset with the Cardale was his size. He feel forward like crazy and was like a 2nd RB. I don't think you win that game with your other 2 QB's. Alabama was not ready for that.

In fact, Urban is best when he has a big huge QB like that.
He also barely completed 50% of his passes that game. If Barrett was healthy, the way he was playing last year, it arguably would've been a bigger win for OSU.

I wasn't speaking of just Elliot's running but the whole team including Cardale. We agree in that it wasn't all Elliott. What I disagree is with the pretense of a RB getting 220 yards on a team as just "getting his yards"

Yards don't mean shit if you can't be consistent with it. You have to be able to sustain drives and keep them going.

But sure, when all the Alabama players, coaches and staff credited Cardale and not being ready for Cardale, what they really meant was - Elliot.

How did this thread suddenly become the Alabama excuse thread? Damn you guys can't stay away from the OSU threads on here. Don't you have a championship game of your own you could be discussing?

You don't have to complete the passes all the time to make a defense react. Simply throwing the ball deep a couple of times, even if incomplete will open up running lanes. Nevermind that Cardale was completing them for big gains.

Yeah, even discussing the game is an excuse. Because Ohio St fans always need something extra to feel good about it. The game itself has never been enough for Ohio St fans.

I don't even know how to argue with someone stating a player having 230 yards on 20 carries "doesn't mean shit" what exactly would Cardale Jones have done had Elliot not put those numbers up?

Exactly. I thought we were talking about how many players you return or lose. Instead, Bama is making excuses for last year, when we have moved on after failing this year. I'm sure if they beat Clemson then they won't care too much, but if they lose this meltdown could be uglier than last year

Happy to discuss it with you, sports fan. But trying to excuse an 85 yard run where the RB was barely touched and we blocked perfectly because your LB was out is sad.

Yep, classic Bama fan. Making excuses after the fact. The facts are not one Bama fan thought they would lose that game and that Zeke would put up 220 on them alone :laugh3:

Correction: Zeke put up 230.

But as 4down pointed out, it was all done after every player that had ever played for Alabama got hurt.

Yes because the pass opening up the run is something that never happens in football.

Take a look at the huge run Derrick Henry had against Wisconsin on 4th and 1 for a TD. He also went untouched because the Wisconsin defender screwed up his gap assignment.

It also happened the same exact way against Georgia with Henry on a 3rd and short as I recall.

And in the Georgia game it also happened to Alabama and that was how Nick Chubb was able to get over 100 yards for the game. An Alabama defender screwed up his gap assignment and Chubb went 83 yards for a TD.

I wonder why the Alabama players, coaches and staff have all said it was Cardale that was the problem rather than Elliot.

Look, I'm just saying that it was very fortunate for tOSU that every Tide defender was injured, which allowed Elliot to rush for 230.

First off, I'd love to see the proof that Ragland has never missed a gap assignment.

Secondly, between the two guards, Decker, and then Evan Spencer, there wasn't a Bama player that wasn't accounted for. Spencer was zeroed in on the LB, so even if he had gone to a different gap, he either would've still been blocked or would've not even been close to Zeke to begin with.

Elliots 85 yard run is what iced the game.

Your 2nd half performance otherwise wasn't as good as you seem to think it was.

1st Drive: TD
2nd Drive: Punt (8 plays)
Scored a TD on a pick six.
3rd Drive: Punt (3 plays)
4th Drive: Punt (3 plays)
5th Drive: Punt (3 plays)
6th Drive: 85 yard TD on the missed gap assignment.
7th Drive: Punt (3 plays)

I didn't say anything about tOSU's 2nd half performance.

All I said was that I'm glad that everyone that had ever stepped foot in Alabama was injured during the Sugar Bowl so that Zeke could get his ho-hum 230 yards. That's all.

You ran that play opposite of Ragland.

Tony Brown should have made the tackle but instead gave a half assed effort to try and push him out of bounds.
