Yes because the pass opening up the run is something that never happens in football.
Take a look at the huge run Derrick Henry had against Wisconsin on 4th and 1 for a TD. He also went untouched because the Wisconsin defender screwed up his gap assignment.
It also happened the same exact way against Georgia with Henry on a 3rd and short as I recall.
And in the Georgia game it also happened to Alabama and that was how Nick Chubb was able to get over 100 yards for the game. An Alabama defender screwed up his gap assignment and Chubb went 83 yards for a TD.
Just looked at the stats. Ohio State had 137 yards rushing before a pass was even completed. So, I concede that you are correct, the pass was used to open up the run
Ohio St's 2nd play of the game:
A "incomplete" pass for about 35 yards to Spencer. Who btw almost made one of the better catches of the year on the play 1 handed.
Ohio St's 2nd play of the game:
A "incomplete" pass for about 30 yards to Spencer. Who btw almost made one of the better catches of the year on the play 1 handed.
But that doesn't count because it was "incomplete". Nevermind the defenders are thinking - fuck that guy was open, we need to adjust. Nope, the defense is thinking - he dropped it, thus we are fine.

Finally, something I can agree with. Henry was killing OSU and Kiffen went away from him.Alabama only loss to Ohio State because our offensive coordinator "Forgot who our RB was ".
So because someone almost made a catch Alabama proceeded to give up 80 yards of rushing on one drive. Gotcha
Why do think passing teams run the ball for 1 yard constantly?

Thats Kiffen for you. He's a vanity playcaller. Finally, something I can agree with. Henry was killing OSU and Kiffen went away from him.
The fact is Bama was just outmatched last year, at pretty much every aspect. Devin Smith was the guy nobody could cover all year, that is something they were missing this year and hopefully they can regain a playmaker like that this year. He opened up everything.
I do. JT runs the offense much better than Cardale, as was demonstrated clearly this year.Do you think Ohio St wins with anyone other than Cardale at QB?
I honestly don't.

Did you know that:Did you know Elliot averaged 4.0 yards per carry more with Cardale in 2014 than JT?
Did you know that:
JT Barrett broke Drew Brees' B1G total TD record with 45 last year?
That he broke Braxton Miller's OSU record for total offense in a season?
That he broke Troy Smith's OSU TD record for a season?
With JT at QB, I'm pretty sure he would have picked Alabama's secondary apart. Most of Cardale's runs were not designed, JT is a constraint threat to the defense that makes the read option lethal.
He topped Drew Brees, who's done ok in the NFL.Blake Sims broke Alabama's passing record in 2014.
Was cut after 9 days in the CFL.
