Redskins Rookie Class continues to make big impact

this could be our best draft class / rookie class in the snyder era

scherf is on his way to being a PB OG , smith is on his way to bein g a very good rotational OLB /starter , clam crowder has taken the slot wr job , kujo could be a starting LG next season , kyshoen jarret has been a godsend at slot CB and possibly SS and dunbar has a shot as a tall lean ball hawking cb/safety

the previous year has 2 starters in moses and long with grant being a solid contributor as a 4/5 wr

we need more drafts like this

I like 2014 draft b/c Breeland is going to be a pro bowl player as will Moses. 2nd I would put the 2012 class. Hey RG3 did give us a division championship now KC will do the same. Add Robinson, Morris , and Compton.

Interesetiing discussion. When I go back and watch games again I do watch Scherff in the run game. Even when the play is stopped he is usually mauling his guy. The key to this draft will be the development of the guys we haven't seen yet, Kouandjio and Spaight. Scherff, Crowder, Jones and to a lesser extent Jarrett and Smith have already shown they can play. I'm actually the happiest with Jarrett, his play has really helped change the weakest part of this team over the past few years IMO, the secondary., I'm still not totally sold on Smith as a pass rushing OLB, just doesn't seem to have the speed to ever be great. But who knows what his role will be?

Back when I was calling for the firing of Bruce Allen as GM and the hiring of a dedicated GM in his place I also stated that upgrades were needed everywhere including positions that were manned by favorites for some here. It has always amazed me how myopic fans can be when scouting their own team. Now after just a single off season of FA signings and to this thread a carefully crafted draft class, the blinders appear to be coming off of the loyalists. This draft class has set the standard for future years for future years in as much as the team is concerned and its fans. With it comes players who have contributed now and others who have shown potential for later but more important is who's not being talked about and those spots that are in need of upgrades. What a dramatic change this is from the prior winning the offseason SB with big name FA signings and other team's castoffs.

I know that this is gonna cause a lot of blowback but the third most need of this team behind safety and linebacker is LEFT TACKLE!!!

Yeah, you will get blowback. How is that a need when he isa perennial pro bowler?

stymie you are crazy. The #1 need is going to be DE b/c we are cutting Hatcher at the end of the season. DE, ILB, S, C, and WR(if Garcon is cut) will be the needs going into the off season

Who is the next man up behind him? Just chalk it up to old guy speaking......you know better to prepare ahead than to wait for the need to become urgent. Like you said he's a perennial pro bowler.....and.... I'll add who has been the picture of good health and has no wear and tear on that 27 year old body.

I doubt that Hatcher is cut, too much dead cap money, maybe the following year. Agree with safety and and LB'er, center nope because they have de la Puente and Reiter ( PS). Garcon should bring a draft pick which in turn will become his replacement ( see my N.E. bit) Still a need just not as urgent as you believe it to be.......signed Crazy:crazy:

This is the offseason when hatcher gets cut. Who is going to trade for Garcon at his cap number? He is scheduled to make 8 mil next season. You cant expect de la Puente to come in a take control.

Yep, suggesting anyone will give up a nice pick to take on Garcon and that contract qualifies you as crazy. Congrats. :D

The Redskins don't need a left tackle. That's kooky talk.

The Redskins need a C, DT, ILB, a true FS, and a TE that can block and catch.

A developmental qb would be nice - the new "Kurt Cousins" if you will, that with a few years of seasoning, may be ready to take over the reigns, as well as generally looking for help at RB (depending on Morris), WR (depending on Garcon), and cb (depending on Blackmon).

This is the NFL, not the NBA. Below is the list of all the players who the the entire NFC East have done sign and trades with.

So just so that I'm clear, there is no way that Washington could rework his contract then trade him to a team like N.E.? Got it!!!:L

Correct...Washington cannot rework his deal to where he has a deal he is willing to sign and then have another team accept him. There are sign and trades done in the NFL. It happens when the player is about to get paid...not slashed. Free Agency is to the player's advantage.

One little word, geez but that's on me. How about sign THEN trade (notice that the "and" has been replaced.) We don't know that PG is about to get slashed they may say that they want him but not with the 10.1 million contract that he's due next year.

Doesn't change the answer. Why would he take a massive cut in pay and not control where he goes? Why would a team give up draft picks for what can be had in free agency?

Exactly. Sign and trade IS sign then trade.
