Figured I would get a game thread going here. Sorry been gone most of the week for work related activities. Probably won't be on much today either as will have my daughter this afternoon and well I am getting to experience the joy of teething.

Anyway just thought I would throw out some interesting facts as usual.

As most know we will be without Talib and Ware for this upcoming game. The good news though is Shane Ray has started practicing this week sooner than the coaches or anybody thought he would and all have said he looks really good so far. Not sure they will let him play this week even being shorthanded but there is a small chance he is actually active for this game.

A player that will get more playing time though is that of Kenny Anunike. I am honestly very excited to see this kid get some major action. I think he could be a huge player for us in the 2nd half of the season to give us yet another great pass rushing option.

The Broncos actually switched up a bit how they practiced this week. They decided to go a bit more uptempo to try and work on forcing better communication especially on the defensive side of the ball after so many mental breakdowns on Sunday. They also if I remember reading it right decided to use one of their few full padded practices this past Thursday. Coaches just were not happy one bit with the effort this past week so decided they needed to show these guys they are not messing around. I expect a better effort right out of the gate this week.

Peyton Manning is dealing with a bad foot. He has had it for a couple of weeks now but this is the first week that he has had to go get treatment so it definitely is not getting better.

I wonder if Osweiler might play some.

Fun fact: if the Broncos win this game, we will have tied our head to head record against the Chiefs.

Only if it's a blowout.

Sure that is right. Depending on how serious his foot injury is, however, it might not be a bad idea to rest Peyton.

My guess is if there is ever a game the Broncos might want Manning to sit it will be next week. This week with it being a divisional game they are essentially worth double in my opinion. Next week where it is a road non-conference game right before a huge game with New England is where I could see them saying "let's give Manning 2 weeks to get ready for the Patriots both physically and mentally."

It's Manning's decision to sit or not and everyone knows that. So I will predict he won't sit unless everything is clinched or the injury is really that serious. If he plays then he isn't injured. That's what I believe.

Yeah I bet he plays. I do think the injury is a little more serious than the team is letting on. Usually when things are a little more Manning tries to joke that much more with the media and he kept doing that this week. I honestly would rather him sit for a game at some point this year. It helps him health wise to get to shut down plus helps the team have an actual real game of action to make a decision on Osweiler. I know we are fighting for a Bye Week for the playoffs but I just wouldn't mind seeing us get to that point of sitting Manning at least one week.

^ I'd love to see the Broncos get a bye week, but they've had one in 3 of the last 4 seasons and in 2 of those 3 seasons the Broncos flopped. The bye isn't going to make or break this team.

I'm not saying I want to see Manning sit and Osweiler start. I do want the team to fight for the highest seed possible. But it's far from being the end of the line if they go in a #3 seed.

I say take advantage of Mannings reported foot injury and see what you got with the guy who is supposed to take over. I agree with Cd that this game is too important being divisional game but go ahead and give Manning a " injury " Sun off vs Bears and see what Oz does in a reg season start so you can see if you think he's extended contract worthy. Could be too that it doesn't really matter though. Denver really doesn't have much of a choice in resigning Oz because the pickings are real slim out there for quality starting QB's anyway. Prob figure he's the best option they have anyway and Denver isn't planning on letting Oz get away regardless. They better promise him a starting gig next yr though or he could walk.

I don't have any doubt Osweiler will do well in this Kubiak offense. So far he has played hot and cold, but seemed to be getting better and more comfortable as his snaps increased and became more frequent.

Just for the simple fact Osweiler - will pose a much different challenge to a defense - than Manning does - he might succeed early.

I agree somewhat but I don't want to see this team at New England late in the year when it's cold. There is nothing at this time that makes me think there would be a different ending to that game with what I have seen with Manning and the Broncos at New England since Manning has been a Bronco. hopefully I'm wrong and if it comes to Broncos at Patriots but I wouldn't bet on Denver winning.

Teams will over pay for him and and may end up being a great bargain in the long run but there will be numerous teams bidding for his service with even what little play he has had. The price could get higher then most think. The Bears game as well won't be as easy as most think. I'm sure the Broncos would love to blow out the Bears for obvious reasons and I'm sure Fox will have the Bears ready for the Broncos for obvious reasons as well. Don't sleep on the Bears. Been playing decent ball and Gase is helping Cutler become a better QB.

Yeah Mingo, def no disrespect for the Bears as they've actually been decent and been close in a lot of their losses but that game, if you wanted to give Manning a breather, give OZ a good test and see how he performs, non-conference game, it is probably the best opportunity to use the " Manning is hurting" excuse and not get the media all hyped up with negative speculations, etc. You could actually use the opportunity in positive ways. Rest for Peyton and good look at Oz vs good competition. But, like you said, if Oz impresses it could really jump his stock up and cost Denver more to keep him and even give him the confidence to go ahead and hit the market for a big payday and starting gig. Elway is probably way ahead of us on that potential issue. :)

I think giving Manning a breather and Oz a chance to start could be playing with fire.

Say Manning has another mediocre game against the chiefs and we sit him for injury reasons against the bears and Oz has a great game. What does the team do going forward?

Keep Manning on the bench? Sit Oz, who just played better than Manning?

I think that could lead to a QB controversy that could split the locker room. I am not sure that I want to chance it just yet. Kind of a long odds scenario and Manning could negate it by having a good game against the chiefs but at that point why sit him against the bears?

So injury report for the day. DeMarcus Ware is officially out for the game. Not unexpected but Ware said his back is responding really well and hasn't ruled out the idea of trying to play next week. My guess is he sits out another week and the team saves him for the New England game to be fresh and fully healed up.

Emmanuel Sanders is listed as questionable. He has not taken a snap all week with an ankle injury. The coaches say he is a game time decision as he will test it out before the game and see what happens.

Peyton is listed as Probable so pretty much a guarantee that he is our starter for this game.

A surprising player that is listed as probable is that of Shane Ray. He should be playing in this game that helps to eliminate some of the losing Ware for a week or two.

Alright so bold prediction time for this game. Mine is I am predicting that Cody Latimer gets his first touchdown of his career in this one. Sanders is banged up and might not even play. Norwood missed last week with an injury so I think we just might see a bit more of Cody Latimer in this one and I think Manning finds him on a few passes in this game trying to build up his confidence.

I'll throw in another bonus of I think our new toy Vernon Davis has 3 catches in this game as they work to get him going with some simple patterns.

Is Fowler still banged up? If that's the case then I don't see how Latimore shouldn't get some quality snaps if the only wrs we'll have is DT and Caldwell if Sanders and Norwood can't go. That's not a real comforting thought especially if DT were to miss time going forward. I sure hope if Latimore gets some opportunities that he gives us a little security blanket. Caldwell is semi steady but strikes no fear in dbs. Need Lat to step up and step up big because it's "now" time for him if he wants a job in Denver next yr.
