Or you could consider that guys like Dalton and Cousins are just good enough to keep the team from making dumb desperate moves to chase after the golden franchise QB long enough to build a complete team. Because lets be real, if Kirk fails the majority of skins fans will be split along two lines at the end of the season. One side will say its a good thing we picked up Voldemorts option and maybe we can finally get a good coach in to work with him. because make no mistake if Kirk fails and we are a 4-12 team again Gruden gets fired.
The other side will be the ones admitting that NONE of the QBs we had this year were worth a crap, but will also go into Snyder mode and scream that we need to do what ever it takes to draft Goff/Cook or some other QB.
I would be very concerned re: your last paragraph if this were a few years ago. However - with SM I just don't see this happening. First of all - I don't believe that he (& even Snyder) will be so quick to pull the trigger on Gruden & even Cousins (assuming that they don't experience a complete disaster like losing just about all of their remaining games to include blowouts & many multi-turnover games).
Beyond that - SM will no doubt be looking at the bigger picture and not just the QB position. He also doesn't have a track record of trying to get the elite high pick out of college to be the next QB. I feel confident he will do the prudent thing in this case. People need to get out of the mindset of viewing this team exactly like they did in the past & assuming that the Redskins moving forward will run the team like some emotional fan. This is a new era.
