I am a firm believer in system RBs. Alfred was tremendous with the Shanahans and still has some high value in a trade. Would anybody be willing to trade Alfred to Atlanta? What would you want in return?

IMO too early to consider at this pt. The combo of both backs presents a real threat to other teams. It is also good to have both in case of injury which is always a very real possibility. Now the offseason this may be a possibility depending how both backs do the entire season & if Morris has high contract demands (which I kind of doubt).

I like the idea gk. I would be for it only after we play ATL and we get a 1st round pick in return. Considering his resume he is going to want at least 5-7 mil per season in the off season. Obviously we wont pay it but I also hate to see him go. With Kyle being in ATL he has to be considering it. This will become very interesting. But doubtful it happens.

Why would we even consider trading Morris when the mantra from day one has been to keep Morris fresh and Jones healthy. Trading Morris might get us a second or third rounder. But it would severely hamper our ground game. We worry about his contract next year.

I agree Shark but if ATL offers a 1st rounder we have to consider it. RB is the easiest position to replace on a team.

Really... have you talked to Chip Kelly or Jason Garrette recently??

Dallas never went out and replaced Murray. That is there own fault that there running game sucks. Philly's line is awful. YOu can say that the Eagles have the best backs in the league with Murray, Matthews, and Sproles.

Don't get me wrong I love our backs but passing on a first rounder for a guy who probably wont be here next year could be foolish.

Maybe.. but Im not one to give up two aces for a possible three of a kind on sixes. We have two very good running backs. At best we get a future pick out of the trade, and even IF it turns out to be a first round pick.. .do we really want to hand Atl a player that could guarantee the pick we get is in the lower half of the first round?? Lets not forget Jones came with an injury history as well. If we were 0-2 and the Eagles and NY looked solid, I would say consider it. But right now the Division is any ones guess, so I would not consider weakening this current squad in hopes of a better draft for next year.

Of course we could win the division this year. Im guessing that we will be 3-2 after losing to ATL. After that AtL game if Atlanta offers us a first I still think we should do it even if atl is 5-0 at that time. Don't look at it as giving up on the season if we trade Alf away.

Is it unreasonable to offer Morris a competitive deal and perhaps he would be willing to give a hometown discount? He is a true Redskin and should stay on this team. Taking care of your Own players who have played well also has a value.

But what is a reasonable deal? The question is if we are offered a 1st round pick, do you deal him?

Alf would be a great fit in Atlanta with Kyle but I just don't see them giving up that much since he's a free agent after this season. I'd love to keep Alf but not many RB's want the RBBC approach. They typically don't like to split carries.

I see Alf staying and then leaving at the end of the season for more than we are offering. GMSM will sign another RB to go with Jones.

And let's not forget that Jones could easily get injured and then we're screwed.

Even if Atl offered a first, trading Alf would be seen as a sign of giving up on THIS team and basically planning for next year. When was the last time a team traded its starting RB away just to strengthen its draft position the next year?? Oh yes, the Browns trading to the Colts. In week two I just dont see a purpose in trading away a player that will make the team weaker. And I am not willing to concede a loss to ATL either at this point in time.

Alf is not your typical RB though. He is about as close to a true team guy as I have seen here since D. Green. And I dont see him pulling a Murray and giving up a good spot to go some place for the bigger pay day. I think once the RG3 thing is settled and we are not on the hok for that $16.1 million, with $23 million in cap space, we should be good to take care of Alf.

Well the Browns don't have Matt Jones. lol. @ATl is going to be a tough game to win. I disagree with you that its giving up on our season if we trade Alf away for a 1st.

I'd love to keep Alf. I love the guy. I just don't see GMSM giving him enough money to keep him here. I think he'll get more cash and take it.

So Shark what would you pay Alf next year if he has 1100 and 10TD's?

In my opinion Alf is going to want 6-7 mil per season next year and he is simply not worth the money. I like the guy too but to pass on a first round pick I think is a bit crazy. If Murray got 8 last year Alf is atleast going to want 6.

So then I wil lask, what do you think he will get, and how much do you think would be fair to keep him?? With the going market for a star RB being $15 million (AP) on the high end, and $1.5 million (Alf) as the low end right now.... What numbers do you reasonably expect?? To me, if Alf has another 1000+ yard season, $5 million is a steal.
