I can't speak for you guys, but sadly for us, I think that's about what we can expect out of our offense for a while. Good luck the rest of the way.

You guys have a lot of youth everywhere

I don't know what our excuse is.

we both definitely have some good things with our defenses though

goodluck to you also the rest of the way hopefully you can make some noise in the Pac-12 this year

As sad as this is, Browning is already an improvement over Miles. At least he can complete screen passes. If I had to watch one more throw at the feet of a receiver behind the line I was about to go sit on top of my local McDonalds in my underwear with a shotgun shooting at random cars going through the drive thru yelling "Here's your fucking happy meal!".

So there's that.

You don't know how badly I want to hug you after reading that. I nearly started throwing people on to the field watching Miles play QB.

Browning showed some great flashes despite terrible pass protection. He also showed great prudence throwing the ball away multiple times instead of forcing a pass, a mistake you frequently see from young QBs.

Shit, his basement is already well above Miles ceiling. What's not to be optimistic about? Oh yeah, Smith is still calling the plays. :pout:

It's not an exaggeration to say that Smith called maybe 6 different plays all game. Thought I was watching a highschool game.

I can live with that in the passing game, but the running game? No excuse for it. Yes, it's a young line, but THAT'S all you taught them since spring? That's it? Really? Maybe they will learn two more plays between now and the apple cup.

Don't you kind of play call to the ability of your players?

Lots of young kids. Can't make things too complex just yet.

Sure, let's just be happy with 3 different running plays, none of which worked more than once against a mid-major defense. Limit the passing plays. Keep them high percentage. Sure, but you can't be that bad in run play calling. No sweeps and no real attempts to spread the d line out wide at all. Well outside of the 2 different screen plays they ran half the night.

That's fair, and it would be more understandable (even though they could have mixed shit up a little more regardless) if it wasn't the exact same shit we saw ALL year last year...

They ran one fly sweep that I recall, and it worked great, it was like an 8 or 9 yard gain. And then it was over, not to be seen again...

Well one thing is for sure. These kids are coached waaaaay better than when Sark was there.

It's clear to see when a young team plays that well on special teams. They are hungry at least.

Just my observation. Experience not close to being there. But passion is. That has been missing on a routine basis for a long time up there.

I won't argue that. I'm excited for the future.

You should be.

Deep inside I bet most Oregon fans are ready for this rivalry to live up to the billing the fans on both sides expect

I was literally just thinking, can you imagine a Washington/Oregon rivalry where both programs are at the top of their game and relevant? It would be epic. I don't want to get ahead of anything though. We can hope... :suds:

Lived in the Olympia/Tacoma area for years. Knew a lot of UW fans, though most of my fellow officers were Wazzu grads.

That's the strange thing with the Huskies, everyone can find a Husky fan but finding a Husky fan who actually graduated there is like finding a unicorn.

Easy to find most WSU grads. Just go to your local AA meetings.

Positives and negative to take from the game. Wish we got the W, but I am still left optimistic for the rest of the season. Browning is a total upgrade from the QB play of last year. Husky D started soft, but as the game went on, they improved. Boise got gased on both sides of the ball in the 4th and credit to the Dawgs to stick it to them when they saw it.

Tons to digest this week, but I'm still left strangely feeling optimistic with the body of work I saw tonight. It was cool to finally see a team that's more designed and executing what Petersen does. I'd see WR lineups and go "Woah" because you never saw that last year. I wore the Boise D down.

Just back from the game, my takes:
1. Surprisingly few penalties and first game mistakes, though a lot of inconsistencies on both sides.
2. Don't despair, Husky fans, Browning and Pettis are going to be good, real good.
3. Boise's line gets the game ball, they dominated play.
4. Special teams for Boise almost cost them the game, they let UW come back, when they should have slammed the door.
5. Was impressed with how many UW fans made the trip, the place was jam packed.
6. Any more wins like this one, and I'll die of heart failure.
