I was going to post this in the "More Trades Coming" thread, but in thinking about it, I think it deserves its own . . .

On Tuesday's "Hard Knocks" Elway told Texans' GM Rick Smith that he ( Elway ) was "trying to move one or two ILBs" .

Anybody think there is any truth to this ??

And who would Elway be able to trade ?

Trevathan ? Coming off those injuries ??

Marshall ? He'd be crazy to even think of it

Steven Johnson, Barrow or Nelson ?

On 'Hard Knocks,' John Elway says he's 'trying to move one or two' inside linebackers

I don't know. I think Elway probably just meant that he didn't want a Texans ILB in exchange for Clark, since we seem to have pretty good depth there between Marshall, Trevathan, Davis, and Johnson.

Barrow and especially Nelson don't fit the Wade Phillips defense, but can play in the league.

Yeah have to agree with others in Barrow is the most likely. He was a mid-round pick that other teams had some interest in. Heck Fox ran around the room after we drafted him so I could see him giving the Broncos a call. Todd Davis might be another. I really don't want them to but he has shown himself really well this preseason and played well at the end of last year. I could see him getting the best value for us. Again I don't want that to happen since we have two guys starting coming off major injuries I would like one guy that I can trust will come in and do really well if needed.

Give us Paea for Barrow Foxy

I think both sides could like that trade. Paea is a guy I wanted when the draft was around but he hasn't quite lived up to the bill. This past year though he started showing some very promising signs of a guy that could be a playmaker. I think we would be winning big on that deal but you never know as like I said Fox loved Barrow when we drafted him.

I didnt take Elway's comment literally. I think it was his way of saying - "no, we aren't interested in your ILB that's an area of strength for us. We want your draft pick."

I could see that. I do think however the Broncos know the 4-5 guys they will keep at that position but also know there are another couple of guys that could be of some value to another team. Now either the Broncos can try to sneak them onto the practice squad or at least get something out of them if at all possible even if it is a 7th round pick. Better than nothing. We shall see though. I still think there is a lot to happen for this team moves wise over the next week.

SMITH: “I looked at that deal last night. I want to do it, I just have a hard time giving up a pick — even though it’s out there — I have a hard time giving up a pick for a guy that’s going into the last year of his deal. You’re good inside linebacker — you like what you got?”
ELWAY: “Yeah, I’d do the player for player, but you know what, we’re in good shape. … But I’m actually trying to move one or two there, too. I’m in a battle for the 52 right now, you know? Who’s going to make that 53?

Yea, like a car dealer saying I have plenty of the model you are trading in - how about just cash? (Of course he will take the trade in.)

I would cry if they got rid of Davis. He's too valuable. Guy is all over the field and a starter on many teams IMO.

If he's talking ILB trade, it's Trevathan. Injury history, one year left on his contract, multiple backups that the Broncos are high on. I strongly believe that they're considering a move with Trevathan

The Broncos aren't going to try to trade someone with no value, so it has to be Marshal or Trevathan and I don't see them letting go of Marshal. Nelson, Davis, Johnson, Barrow and the likes don't really have any material trade value.

Not completely out of the question . The talent is there but injury history and contract would definitely make Trev a candidate for a trade for sure.

Not 100% sure about injury senior yr at Kentucky, but I know he's had 3 separate injuries to one leg I believe. History might not be right word. String of bad luck work? ;)

Looking to move, tells me they are looking to trade.

I don't see us trading any though.

Marshall and Trevathan aren't going anywhere obviously.

Barrow and Nelson don't have trade value.

Steven Johnson surely has no trade value. When you don't tender the player and nobody else signs him so Denver re-signs him for less then his tender probably means not much interest out there.

Trev has a completely rebuilt knee. Can his rebuilt knee take the pounding of a entire season. That's the question.
