It's by design. You think that whole MTV Rock the Vote campaign was really about getting more people involved in voting for the betterment of society? Fuck no. They wanted to drive herds of morons to the voting booths so they could vote for what they were told.

Flag waving to rally support for illogical wars in places we ought not venture is most certainly politics. All the major sports took part because they know what butters their bread. It's all propaganda and it was good for business. I prefer to just watch the sports without the side of propaganda masked as patriotism.

I don't think it's a conspiracy. They just know what sells. You think it would be good for business to come out and trash the country when shit like that happens? Having spent 30 years in the military ... good bit of it away from home overseas ... I like watching baseball too but couldn't.

Glad you made it home so you can watch it now. The 7th inning stretch is pretty lame in general. I remember "Deep in the heart of Texas" from Astros games as a kid. We love our state that's for sure.

I also see a stark difference with how the military was run 40+ years ago to today. It's more of a business now of protecting financial interests over seas vs protecting freedoms as the military of your day.

I don't believe in trashing the country ever. This really is the greatest country in the world, for however much longer until we run it into the ground. I was playing in a high school game once and one little stupid fuck said he was gonna turn his back on the flag during the national anthem because he had some opposition to Bush. I walked up to him and explained to him that you don't disrespect the flag of the country that affords you every opportunity because you don't like the president. I then told him, if he did decide to pull that shit, I'd walk over to the coach and tell them to bench his ass or find a new goal keeper.

Good for you Rev. It's not about the war. It's about remembering the 18yo kid who is away from home. But you make yourself happy. Just go to the game and run to the head at stretch time so you aren't politically offended.
