Sometimes you have to build the roster up a bit before a Star player will consider you.

I think we all have come to realize that Market matters less these days.

The Lure of Hollywood has taken a huge hit in Free Agency.

Anyone who doesn't believe that can simply look at Aldride, Love, DeAndre Jordan and Monroe.

All of these guys told the LA Teams to go fuck themselves and took deals in smaller Markets.

There is a reason that Aldridge gave the Suns a second look as opposed to the Lakers and Knicks.

Roster.

Don't waste your time. It's been explained over and over. Wiggy either hasn't read anything or can't grasp it. Either way, he's just lashing out because the Cavs are looking at another titleless season despite all of the money Gilbert is spending.

Boston Celtics will make the playoffs again and win their first round matchup....

The Lakers will not make the playoffs.....AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!

Celtics in 7!

good point man- when they win 30 games instead of 21 games and end up with the 4th or 5th or 6th pick in the lotto and have to give it up- you can always hang your hat on those extra 9 wins that those signings gave you

TOTALLY WORTH IT. Finishing 11th or 12th last in the West instead of last . Im sure fans would MUCH rather finish 11th or 12th in the West and give up a top 3 pick- then hvae an extra 10M in cap room and the 3rd pick.....but hey- you are totally right- its what they pay you the big bucks for

Correct me if I'm wrong.....

But, tanking didn't exactly work out well for the Knicks....lol

The Lakers have to appease the folks over at TWC.

If I'm not mistaken, there are clauses in that 150 mil per year TV deal that are tied to ratings.

They can't afford to have another shit Season.

Cousins, Rondo and Karl. What could possibly go wrong? :noidea:
If they get along and help the team play good basketball it'll be fun to watch and if it leads to problems between the 3 it'll be fun to watch. At least the Kings should be entertaining either way.

Im sorry.

in my opinion the Lakers would have been better served getting another high lotto pick and saving that 10M to pitch up to 3 guys max offers.

I mena- what looks better- another top 3 pick on the roster and 10M in cap space- or no draft pick and Lou Williams and Brandon Bass? to me its a no brainer-
especially because I hate the Williams fit with Russell there and Kobe there. I liked the Lakers offseason better before they settled on throwing cash at guys who cant start for contenders.....but we shall see going forward.

Kobe is off the books next year.

Hibbert is off the books next year.

New cap money will be bountiful.

Where is the issue?

Besides Durant, what franchise changing player will hit the market?

They swung and missed this Summer and are now looking at the 2nd and third tier players.

Harding picks and capspace hasn't exactly worked out well in Philly and they don't have the pressure of being the Los Angeles Lakers.

You can't have a
Imo, the Lakers re-build is going exactly as it should. It would have been great to get one of the top level FA's, but to do that, you have to show that you have more than what if's and maybe's which is what the Lakers have now. If the young guys are as good as folks seem to think they will be, then in future FA markets they will actually have something to sell besides California weather and Hollywood.
Team full of 1st and 2nd players in your lockerroom with no vets.

When you do, you get a situation like the Suns with the Morris Twins or the Cavs with Waiters and Kyrie.

If Russell, Clarkson, and Randle all play well (and maybe Upshaw) a veteran could see himself as the missing piece perhaps?

Rondo get in team mates faces if they don't defend. Cousins acts like a little bitch when that happens and he doesn't defend well. I see their personalities clashing a ton in Sacramento. Rondo will get on Cousins case and cousins won't like it.

Doesn't defend well? Cousins was 4th in defensive real plus/minus last year only behind Draymond Green, Bogut, and Tony Allen while ahead of Kawhi and AD. Of course I'm not saying he's a better defender than Anthony Davis or Kawhi, but I'd say he defends pretty well.

Giannis, Middleton and Parker attracted Monroe- not John Henson and ZaZa

Kyrie and the #1 overall pick to get Love attracted LeBron- not Spencer Hawes and Dion Waiters

LMFAO....Dude, they are exactly where the Cavs were a few Seasons ago.

Kyrie-Russell

Thompson-Randle

Jarrett Jack- Lou Williams

Earl Clark- Brandon Bass

But, I guess signing role players is only okay if you are the Cavs?

Your team is where they are for 1 reason: Lebron

Before he came back, Love wouldn't even glance your way.

So, all it takes is for 1 guy to say yes, and the rest will follow.

Getting another star to play with a star gets guys here- say if Kobe was gone after this year- having 2 max slots and getting them to come together will get a guy

I mean if you are suggesting that Lou Williams and Brandon Bass are attracting any top free agent then I have some great magic beans to sell you.

I think taking Thompson's and Landry's contract and getting Stauskas and a first rounder is WAY better and the exact type of move the Lakers should be trying to make instead of throwing money at third tier free agents that will only assure that they dont keep their pick.

if someone thinks I am wrong- well you are welcome to your opinion.

Good comparison. The Lakers are very similar to the Cavs before Love, James, and company showed up in Cleveland.

I don't buy him being that good on defense. He definitely takes plays off.
He's not be an elite defender, he gets in foul trouble more than he should and has taken some plays off. But I'd say he's at least an average defender if not above average.
