Another favorite factory muscle car that didn't hit high production numbers.
1970 Buick GSX 455
Olds and Buick didn't do a lot, but what they did was fucking great.

Having owned a 1969 Dodge Charger with 440 magnum, I'll take the new stuff any day.

Exactly. Having owned a few vintage cars in a row as daily drivers, I'm about ready for a new one. If there was a convertible Challenger, it would top the list.

Being cool is often a PITA.

Hey JuiceTheGator, I am not sure but I think you can special-order a ragtop for the Challenger. You just have to have the scratch when you walk into the dealer.

Here is another little badass Dodge they never should have stopped making especially the one with the ACR engine in it.

No kiddin'? I guess they'll send it to one of those coach builders. But ya know, they're never quite as proper as when the convertible is designed from scratch. A nice hard top conv. like on the BMW 3 or MB s550 would sure be nice. Hell, I think Chrysler makes a hardtop conv. on that POS Sebring they make?

Even on my '73 Mustang you just press the button and it goes up or down. Those custom jobs are usually a little shittay.

Yes it does I spent 2 years building it and more 100 dollar bills than I will ever admit 2

I know about that. Sometimes I feel a little stupid for the money I've spent. Then, I remember a regular new shitbox car depreciates $30k + in the first few years. You haven't wasted anything...especially if you use it a fair amount.

I spent $50k restoring my last big boat...felt like a douche. Then, my friend told me he paid $135k for his slightly used SeaRay garbage boat and sold it for $65k three years later...and it was just a plastic POS boat.

Man, I can't tell you how many times I wanted to do that Rex Racer. If anybody would race one of these in the Pro Stock division of the NHRA, that is what would happen similar to what Sox and Martin did back in the mid- 70's with the Dodge Dart and the Dodge Cricket.

Dodge's 2.4 ACR engine was pretty stout with some modifications but nothing on the order of one of these!

You would probably need a Vette with the L-88 beast like the one in my avatar to top the 426 c.i. Hemi for stock Detroit horsepower back in the day.

The old Ford mechanic nearby just reminded me he "still has a 460 complete sitting in his shop and it won't cost much to put it in."

That's great, the problem is I'll have to rebuild the rest of the Mustang to make it safe with that monster in thar.

460 Cobra jet is a damn truck engine. I get the distinct impression this dude in the vid is a backyard hack. I might be wrong but he sure likes the sound of his pipes.

Personally, I wouldn't want something like that.
I'd rather have good power but be able to drive the car casually.
The 460 is a good idea for big cubes/power and low RPM's and still get an easy 400+HP out of it, but would need suspension upgrades and such to handle the extra weight of it.

I'd opt for the build up of the 302 (i think you said it had this and not a 351) or 351. Can get great power out of either engine, performance parts are plentiful and it would be a blast to drive. Either one of those engines could get you into the mid 13 second quarter mile times which is plenty for the street.

I had the same thought. :pound:
Why would you drive something that loud unless you are in high school. Put some mufflers on that thing. I'd sacrifice some HP for that, it had plenty.:gaah:
