Once the USO gets its roof, and whenever Roland Garros finishes its roof, the Grand Slam season will be even more enjoyable. Wish it was happening sooner though.
At least they have lights at the Open. If the French had lights at least, all the matches probably would have been completed

as for sock, if he can control points with his forehand, i'd like his chances to take a set off rafa, maybe. long way to go before even thinking of that, though.
i stand by this.

it'll be tough, but sock could get a set.

I like how unique the French is without lights and a roofed stadium. The conditions have a big effect on play, but rainouts are exceedingly rare thanks to being able to play through most rain. It takes a deluge to stop play for even an hour or two.

If they get a roof, then that's cool. Not something that I care much about after 20+ years of watching the French.

Wimbledon putting up the roof was a total no-brainer, though. The US Open getting one in 2016 is going to be amazing, too.

serena has lost 1 match in 2015. she'd have to play her worst match of the year to lose to stephens.

Roof is great at Wimbledon but they still have thay damn curfew which means it is still possible for matches to be pushed to the next day if it runs too late which is 11 pm I believe in London.

3 years for the US open and their will be multiple roofs. Couldn't care less what they do at the French. The don't even play on real clay. Brick dust is ridiculous to play a major on. Cant even see the ball on that orange shit.

It's what has been colloquially called clay for over 100 years.

As a tennis fan, I love it all.

Over the past 10 yeast especially, there has been a direct correlation between perennial top 10 success and extensive training on red clay in a pro's formative years. The US is a good decade behind, thought the USTA is trying desperately to get more youngsters to go to Europe and get work in on clay.

They'll be done by the start of the 2016 USO?

Yep the roof will be open for business at next year US Open.

US Open renovations will be all completed in 2018 when the new Armstrong court is open

I had a hard time seeing the ball, when TVs were smaller and before HDTVs. I would rewind my VCR, and pause / slow-mo, but still have trouble.

It's much better now with a HDTV, but I do agree that the contrast between the ball and court could be much better.

Back in 2012, the Madrid Open opted for blue clay. It was so much easier to see the ball. Everyone other than FED though complained about the clay, saying it was slippery. So that was the only year they did it.

When the AO changed courts in 2008, I thought the contrast was much better.

I think the USO and AO have the best color schemes. The USO since 2005.

Agree it is one of the reasons I hated the french. I could not see the ball in SDTV. HDTV is a real upgrade for this court.

As for color schemes I actually like the AO scheme slightly better than USO. I like that shade of blue a little better

 However, I care only because it is a major.

The media also blasted it which to me was comical. Innovation is not part of their forte.

Nothing wrong with using it as a training tool. Just don't want to watch big time matches played on it. Don't want to play on it either. Regular clay I would find much more palpable for both.
