I'm never shocked when Fed loses at majors anymore. And Stan the Man has been on fire this tournament.

It's why I didn't want to commit one way or another to a prediction.

Really glad I was wrong about Nishikori.

I felt comfortable with the prediction since you just never know what you're going to get with Tsonga.

But it worked out great.

As I've said before, I'm not a fan of Nishikori. He's a human backboard with a backhand that's enough to beat most players most of the time. That doesn't make for a major contender in this era.

I all but left Stan for dead the way he was playing since the last major. He found his game again just at the right time.

He is going to really move up the rankings considering he got knocked out round 1 last year.

Those ESPN guys must be so happy. Considering that they don't broadcast the men's side of the FO after the QF, they could not imagine 2 months ago when clay court season began that Novak vs Rafa at the FO will be a part of their coverage

Pretty sad that the most important tennis match of the year is starting at 9:30 AM Eastern Time on a Wednesday.

REALLY hope Nole can pull this off.

It's hard for me to wrap my head around Rafa losing after 1 loss in 10 years, but I'll be ecstatic if it happens.

Outside of the 4 game stretch where Nole felt the pressure when he went up 4-0, Nole rolled Nadal (won 19 out of 24 games). He went after Nadal, and Nadal couldn't get enough on the ball to give Nole any pressure. Nole also went pure variety, mixing a lot of drop shots and a lot of deep balls. He moved Nadal around and Nadal never had enough velocity to stop Nole from toying with him. What a beatdown.

If Tsonga beats Stan, Rafa drops to #11 entering grass season lmao

Beginning of the end for Rafa. His body is shot. He looks older then most of the guys on tour now.

It had to happen sooner or later! Players like Rafa work entirely too hard; even against riff/raff! That defensive, counterpunching has to be debilitating and he won't last as long as Federer! :nono:

I'll be out the next few days.

Will watch the rest of the FO, and catch up on this thread, most likely on Monday.

murray is playing about as well as he can. the low percentage he has on 1st serve isn't because he's serving badly. it's because it's impossible to get a ball by nole.

nole is otherworldly right now. baseline perfection.

wawrinka can beat him when he's locked in, but nole is playing at such a stratopheric level, i just don't see it happening in a final at the french.
