How!

Should be rather a good series, weather permitting.

Says a lot to me anyway.

Detwiler is 0-5 and has lost his last nine decisions as a starter dating back to May 2013 with Washington.

Detwiler stands between the Rangers and an even record. They are 1-6 in his starts and 14-14 in all other games.

The Rangers have used two left-handed relievers this season: Alex Claudio and Freeman. They have allowed four homers in 27 at-bats, including three homers by left-handed hitters in 16 at-bats.

This on Josh:

• I don’t know that the LA Angels experience “humbled” him, but I do think he’s genuinely thankful for the opportunity the Rangers have presented him. He seemed at ease in the Round Rock clubhouse and at ease with his surroundings.

Maybe he and Prince have come to the same conclusion: I love playing this game and I want to do what I can to be the best - for the team and me - in the process.

Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre denies physical issue after wincing while swinging | | Dallas Morning News

Third baseman Adrian Beltre skipped batting practice before the loss to Kansas City. Beltre also winced several times while batting during the four-game series against the Royals.

Beltre shook his head when asked if he had a physical problem.

“Just a bad reaction,” Beltre said.

Beltre indicated if he were hurting, he would not ask out of the lineup.

“I get paid to play,” said Beltre, whose RBI streak ended at four games.

Didn't we go through this enough last year with Choo?

That was a really good article.

This from Jamey Newberg this morning about Detwiler.

Detwiler’s own hold on a job — at least the one he’s been entrusted with so far — would seem to be tenuous, but the reason he’s been given the ball as often as he has is that Martin Perez, Derek Holland, and Matt Harrison aren’t ready to return, Anthony Ranaudo (3-0, 2.87 in six AAA starts but with 18 walks in 31.1 innings) hasn’t earned his way back to Texas, and Chi Chi Gonzalez (2-4, 4.50 in six AAA starts) hasn’t been consistent and isn’t considered quite ready. Unless you want to roll the dice by going to Jerad Eickhoff or the Phil Klein experiment or Ross Wolf, you’re stuck with Detwiler for the time being, and now’s probably a decent time to thank goodness for Wandy Rodriguez.

The part about Detwiler that frustrates me more than any other it’s not an issue of inferior stuff. He has innings (and has had one game) when he looked like a guy you could get behind taking a chance on, as the Rangers did this winter. (The players Texas gave up for him, incidentally: Second baseman Chris Bostick, repeating Low A, is hitting .224/.285/.288, and righthander Abel De Los Santos, in his first run at AA hitters, has a 6.39 ERA and .288/.345/.500 opponents’ slash.) I actually look forward to the time when Detwiler is repurposed as a reliever, when I think his stuff could play up and the pitch count issue won’t be as magnified and won’t handicap the rest of the team so much.

That transition just doesn’t seem to be imminent, and that’s not because of his arsenal or the upside that scouts saw. It’s because there just really aren’t tempting alternatives to Ross Detwiler right now.

Hope you're right but I've seen enough of his crap to say, not believing a word till proven. He owes that much.

No kidding. On the article stated much the same thing. The Rockies need to apologize to their fans. Plus, the Angels made their bed and now they have to lie in it. They thought they made a shrewd back door move on the Rangers when we were just sitting there knowing we did not want to pay 20 mill a year after what had happened the last half of the year. JD was caught between a rock and hard place with Hamilton and the Angels bailed him and us out.

What is your feelings about the fact that one of our hottest hitters and a guy who helped jump start the offense in the right direction in Blanks has sat out the last 2 games. It's not like he went cold. Are we going to try and freeze the hot players again like we did in the past?

I wonder if he was considered for a PH for Elvis when the tying run was up in the 9th yesterday?

He was just 4 for his last 19, but that included 3-4 in his last game.

Texas Rangers minor-league report | | Dallas Morning News

TRIPLE-A ROUND ROCK (22-12) hit five home runs to sweep a doubleheader with Omaha (Kansas City.) 2B Rougned Odor and DH Jake Smolinski, both of whom were demoted from the majors this week, homered in a 8-5 win in the opener. LH Michael Choice homered in the second game, a 2-0 win. RHP Spencer Patton pitched a scoreless eighth in the second game, about nine hours after he had been sent down by the major-league team.

DOUBLE-A FRISCO (12-21) ran its losing streak to eight games with a 4-2 loss to Corpus Christi (Houston.) 3B Joey Gallo took three walks for the second consecutive game. Gallo has 10 walks in his last five games.

HIGH-A HIGH DESERT (16-17) had only five hits in a 5-2 loss at Stockton (Oakland.) CF Ryan Cordell homered and had his fourth consecutive two-hit game. He is 8-for-14 in this stretch.

LOW-A HICKORY (22-9) pulled off the unusual 2-4-3-2 double play during a 1-0 win against Augusta (San Francisco.) RHP Luis Ortiz had five scoreless innings and is 2-0 with a 0.40 ERA for the season. Ortiz, the 30th overall choice in last year’s draft, has allowed only three walks in 22 1/3 innings overall.

I've heard and read about possibly putting Josh in the 2 spot. That stacks 3 lefties in a row. I'd like them to try Delino (2B) there and put Josh 5th.

I wouldn't mind a Choo-Hamilton-Beltre-Fielder setup, myself.

True on the 4 for 19 but he was still hitting the ball hard. He had some long outs in the game before the 3 for 4 so he had not been getting fooled.

DeShields has really impressed me. That would not be a bad idea. You really want to get guys on base in front of the big guns and not so much after. Otherwise batting 9th is a good place to be then he is back towards the front of them as well as Choo.
