I'm not totally convinced YET that the stable of backs Dallas currently has is good enough to get the job done, BUT I don't think they necessarily need AP either, especially for the price he would command both in trade compensation and salary. I think they can and probably will pick up an affordable veteran back to add to their 'committee' before all is said and done this off-season. If they are going to burn next year's first, I would prefer they use it on another solid young D-lineman to add to the other pieces they've acquired this off-season. If they can improve this defense significantly, they don't need their running game to be all-world in order to succeed.

But, I predict another disappointment in the Big D this season. What makes it unfortunate is that it doesn't have to be. Dallas lost last year because of the defense, not the offense and it's going to be repeat of that again this season.
funny...who woulda guessed a philly fan would predict Dallas failure. Only dallas failed to improve their situation from last year while everybody else will play much better.

Dallas D will be much better this year than last. Dallas is better than Philly everywhere in offense except RB, which may be a Dallas advantage a few weeks into the season. Murray was Superman last year(contract year), before that, he was out every time he got touched. Combine that with Sam Bradford(over/under for games played...6) and Tim Tebow waiting in the wings, and I like Philly for a top 10 draft pick

The only way I see the offense not repeating last year is if we are wrong about the OL. An average back will look like a pro bowler running with these guys in front on him.

While I think we will be good enough at RB which is why I said all along I didn't expect us to grab a big FA or go there in the first 3 rounds of the draft, I think the idea that an average back will look like a Pro Bowler is underestimating exactly how good Murray is and how good his style and vision and this offense meshed together. Remember most of these guys were Cowboys last year and saw very little action for a reason even when Murray had his injury. My biggest concern all along (and still) is who will play 3rd downs.

I'm still hoping this team takes a long hard look at one of the cheap vets out there. Pierre Thomas is already out there and the guy I really like is Bradshaw if his medical checks out (big if). My favorite target is still F Jackson. Don't see why Buffalo wouldn't give him up for a late pick. He would be the ideal target IMO.

I can understand Bradshaw or Jackson for a short yardage back but would Thomas be any different than what we have? I think Randle will flourish as the sun back. He probably not the cow bell Murray was but he's got enough speed and power to succeed.

I'm not sure about short yardage, but Bradshaw and Jackson would be incredible on 3rd downs. Both really have every down back ability. Bradshaw needs to be in a heavy rotation because his body just doesn't hold up and he always gets hurt. Both would make our rotation a lot better IMO.

Don't know if Thomas would even make the team, but how does that matter? He isn't getting guaranteed money so bring him in and see. Thomas couldn't be "THE" guy but he wouldn't have to be. Just a guy to throw into the rotation that is very good on 3rd downs. It isn't about finding a top back it's about finding the best rotation. If he is slightly better than one of the guys we have then that is good enough when the cost is basically nothing. I hear how good McFadden can be on 3rd downs, but I haven't seen it. Yes he is explosive if he catches the ball but so is Dunbar. DMC seems to have issues blocking and catching from the time I've seen him, but some of the numbers from these websites say he is an excellent blocker. I just didn't see an excellent blocker when I watched him. I also have doubts as to whether he has anything left and I think these other guys do. Very glad McFadden was brought in with almost no guaranteed money, but he needs to earn a spot on the team still IMO and I'm going to find as many guys to compete as possible for those RB spots if I'm the GM.

Guess we all here should be happy that we now have that "Monster" McFadden heading into the season, if you believed in this crowd's ideology. :pound:

no one here thinks that AP wouldn't help the team we just don't see how we could do the trade with the salary cap. your attitude is give them whatever they want and to hell with the cap which doesn't work

Everyone here would rather have JJ Watt and Clay Matthews than Randy Gregory and Anthony Hitchens too. Everyone but you understands this isn't Madden 2015 GM mode

And I'm sure Dez's understanding of the long term ramifications of our cap goes as far as his next pay check...

I think you (or someone on here) made a good point the other day. Would anyone give up either of our top 2 picks from this year that we just made PLUS like eight to ten million dollars per year for AP? I know I wouldn't.

3 to 1 says different? Clueless? Guess the only think that really matters in life, is what a bunch of rose-colored glasses wearing homer-hacks on a sports messagebard really thinks huh?? flmao...

In reality, no one really knows how this will all end. The sheer arrogance of always thinking you always do here, is what I really love mocking. Just a bunch of message-board know-it-alls posting with tea leaves.

Just because 75% of NFL fans haven't figured out Jerry is no longer pulling the strings doesn't mean AP is coming to Dallas.

Honestly if you polled Cowboy fans asking if they would like to see AP in a Dallas uniform the great majority will say yes.

Ask those same fans if Dallas should trade multiple picks and pay him his 10M (yes I accounted for a pay cut) the majority will say no.

Wow! This is getting better than episode of the three stooges, except there's only one stooge and his name is Greg.

The debate isn't whether or not AP will be a Cowboy. The debate is whether or not it is a good idea to give up what it will cost to get AP and whether that is worth the risk for a 30 year old RB.

We all know Jerry and not a one of us would be surprised to see him turn his back on his recent moderation and do something as outlandish as giving up some #1 picks and destroying the cap to get AP. It's part of life being a fan of the Star and we live with that possibility on a daily basis.

But for you to post the outcome of a online poll as proof that AP is coming to Dallas shows how idiotic you really are. The poll isn't even scientific, moron. First of all, it doesn't take into account whether or not any of the respondants have any clue as to how the cap works and how trades and contracts work in the NFL. Furthermore, the ones responding have to be randomly picked. For all we know, you responded to the question 115,217 times.

Given your obsession with AP and your lack of understanding of the cap, none of us would put it past you.

You mean the same Jerry Jones that just earned the NFL's salesman of the year award in convincing the most sought after FA in NFL history (Collins) to sign with them at his home?? ...or was it the Jerry Jones that just said he wouldn't rule out using next year's 1st round pick on a vet player that could help them win this year with Romo's window closing soon??

Stop just being gullible and swallowing up all the media hype son, Jerry still runs this team, and they still require his approval on deals.

Multiple picks?? Who said that? Making up your own polls and trade conditions here again dude?? You really don't know what it would take IF AP is serious about holding out and wanted to force a trade, so let's just stop making shit up here ok??

You're obviously confused here again dude...

I mean the same Jerry who was told to sit down and color when he wanted to draft Manziel. I mean the same Jerry who year after year must have THAT SPLASH move
Can you please tell me the last splash move in big D?
Current management has changed the way the team is operating, but to keep Jerry's EGO in check they are giving Jerry credit. By the way if you listen to Collins he was sold on Dallas before he got on the plane. He grew up a Cowboy fan and wanted to be a Cowboy. Only way he wasn't signing is if Jerry fucked it up.

Hell you could have convinced Collins to sign.

Yup, Jerry had ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with his signing :L

So the only real "proof" you have that Jerry is no longer running this team, is because of they didn't select Manziel last year when he Jerry wanted him, and there has been no recent "splash" moves by team??...guess the Hardy signing doesn't really count here as making some "splash" after all the heat they took afterwards?

Sounds personal kid between you and Jerry. I could find more "reasoning" here coming from dog Rosie. You're dismissed.
