Team game.... Having a good defense keeps a team in ball games, so it's vital if you want a shot at a title... But you also absolutely have to have someone competent at the QB spot... Yeah yeah I know, some below average QB's have won Super-Bowl titles... But usually that's because their teams defense was just off the hook good... If I had too pick though, I'd say Russell because he's a rock in leadership, He seriously made the entire team believe and play better even his rookie year.... That dude finds a positive in the worst situations... and he NEVER blames anyone but himself, you want that as a leader.... You'll never hear excuses or blaming from Russ....

I find that cliché to be crap. You can take 1 person off that offense and still be great. Take Sherman off that defense and they give up a lot more scoring.
Take Lynch off that offense and the Hawks are screwed.

I vote Richard Sherman.

The answer really is their secondary (and its not even close). But since I can't lump them all together I vote for the one out of the group that they could least afford to lose.

Seattle is a pretty average NFL team everywhere except in the secondary. It is the only thing that really separates them from everyone else.

Marshawn or Earl... Just depends on which side of the ball you are looking at. Flip a coin for this discussion.

Disagree... I say without Russ our offense would be screwed... I"m not saying Lynch isn't great, he is... But we had Lynch for several years before Russ arrived and we never got over the hump ... Russ changed our offense his rookie season.... His running threat and big play threat opened up Lynch's game even more...

Lots of good choices and arguments can be made for all. However, the number of super bowls won by teams without at least very good quarterback play can pretty much be counted on one hand. There is a reason that qb's are the highest paid players.

1500 plus hard rushing yards a year.... Need I say more?

IMO - the Hawks don't sniff a SB without Lynch. He is that good. Again just my opinion.

Good point... I"m a defensive guy overall, I LOVE good defensive football... Even though teams overall come together too form one unit, they are kinda separate teams that join as one.... Defense does what they do and the offense does what they do ... I"d always take a great defensive unit over a great offensive unit... It's proven defense wins championships a higher percentage of the time... Even though the NFL has bent over backwards to help offenses....

Surprise by the number of votes for Lynch.

I am NOT one of those RB' are a dime a dozen people.

But to me Lynch is by far and away the most replaceable guy on the list. Don't get me wrong: He's a stud. But if Seattle had a similar power runner like an Alfred Morris/Gore/Lacy ect over the years instead of Lynch, I don't think it changes a whole lot in terms of wins andloses.

We wouldn't have sniffed the SB without Russ though.... If we started Flynn I can guarantee we wouldn't have had the same success....

Maybe, but the question was who is more important to the team. I think they would have a better team with Flynn and Lynch as opposed to Wilson and another RB.

You probably don't sniff the SB without most of the guys on that list though.

It is what makes Seattle a special team the last couple years. A group that really compliments everyone else on the roster.

To me the question is more who could Seattle least afford to lose if they are replaced by a league average player. You can replace Lynch with a league average guy and do well still. You could replace Russell with a Matt Ryan, Cam Newton type and still win a ton of games. But to me no one in the league could have replaced what Sherman and Thomas has given them in the last couple of years.

Earl, no doubt. You take the top off that defense and you're in trouble. He allows the corners to be able to play aggresive, lets Kam drop down if need be, he is the safety net.

We'll find out in the next several years ... I think Lynch has maybe 1 or 2 good years left... Russ will be around for a long while... Flynn couch't win the starting Raiders job so .. just a thought ...

Lets not forget how Lynch is able to put up the numbers he has with one of the bottom-end offensive lines in the NFL.

People might want to check Marshawn Lynch's numbers before he teamed with Russell Wilson (hint: they weren't good). Breaking tackles is awesome, but if you don't have an outside threat to run the ball, then you just break a tackle and get hounded by five other defenders. Without the threat of the read-option, Marshawn's numbers would suck.

The most important player is whoever ends up opposite of Sherman. No matter how well any of those guys on the list do it won't matter if they get Simon's SB performance opposite Sherman.

Here's Marshawn Lynch's career record by year:

7-9
7-9
6-10
7-9
7-9
-------------------------- (Russell Wilson comes)
11-5
13-3
12-4

Here's Marshawn Lynch's YPC:
4.0
4.1
3.8
3.6
4.2
---------------------------(Russell Wilson comes)
5.0
4.2
4.7

But Lynch is the one who made Russell great, right? It's amazing the lengths people will go to avoid giving Russ any credit.

Wilson was the obvious, but I took Thomas. He's the engine that drives the defense on a defense first team. There are MANY games Seattle has won over the last 3 years where the offense didn't score over 17, a few they didn't score over 14. And that's with Lynch playing. You don't win many of those without that crazy defense.

I went with Earl because of it.
