Check out this testy exchange between Rapoport and Kuharsky.

Sorry, Ian. Kuharksy is "the man" on this.

Interesting that Kuharsky deleted that tweet.

Talked to a guy today who had some great ideas about da Bears calling the Titans up for a Cutler/picks package for the #2 pick in the draft. Could work out very well for everyone involved and ignite some excitement for both fanbases.

I assume if someone trades for Cutler. It is after they already rework Cutlers deal?
Who would trade to take over that contract?

Nashville radio is reporting this deal has been proposed to the Titans. Cutler for draft picks.

No way the Titans trade the #2 pick for cutler. I could see it happening if it was a swap of 1st picks between the teams.

I heard they tried to auction a Cutler-autographed football. When the bidders found out it included Cutler,
they got no bidders.....

If the Titans can get Cutler and the 7th overall pick from the Bears I say go for it. There's really nobody at #2 that I consider amazing unless you're high on Fowler who translates very well to a 4-3. Williams has some character issues and really wants to be a Raider so he might pout if he goes to the Titans (someone point this out to me on a sep. thread).

That said, lots of pickings at the 7th overall. White/Cooper, Dupree/Ray, Scherff. A lot of mocks have the Titans taking a OT 2nd round so Scherff could help them.

Titans would prob. also snag a later round pick as well since Cutler just doesn't have much trade value at this point. Cutler still gives the Bears the best chance to win but if that team is going full rebuild (which they need to do) I could see the need to offload him.

If the Bears take Mariota with that (only reason to trade to #2) LOL. Give me a break. Bears need to focus on fixing the worst defense (by a large margin) in the NFL and Mariota doesn't do that or add anything to an offense NOW. He needs to sit and by some MIRACLE develop QB mechanics that are essential to succeed in the NFL but ones he was NEVER asked to use at Oregon.

But no... the Bears will draft Mariota, say he's going to sit, then panic game 3 when they're 0-2 or something and start Mariota with zero supporting cast outside of Jeffrey and an aging Forte not to mention the worst defense in the league. This will require Mariota to throw a ton and get picked off 24/7 because he locks on to receivers and has not run any semblance of a detailed playbook that contains more than 5 plays and requiring a huddle. Ultimately this will DESTROY Mariota's confidence or cause him to get injured when he relies on his legs (only strength) and Mariota will be out of the league (basically) within 3 years.

If the Titans do this, obviously it signals they are not taking Mariota.

Cutler isn't worth more than a 4th round pick. Not only would you be trading for Cutler, but also his enormous contract

Cutler would essentially be working for free (as far as the Titans are concerned) in 2015... and the Titans would only be on the hook $4M in 2016. After that, the absurd money (for the Titans) kicks in - but he can be cut easily.

Still a gamble, but so is the #2 pick... at least Cutler won't cost the Titan's much financially, although it might be costly losing the locker room.

Don't think you are reading that correctly. The Bears are only on the hook for $4 million if they trade him to the Titans. The rest of the contract the Titans take on.

Here is a great article actually breaking down what Cutler would cost his new team

Every Jay Cutler exit strategy is difficult, but not impossible for Bears | NFL | Sporting News

If you don't want to read it the jest of it is the new team would be responsible for the guaranteed part of his contracts the next 2-years with this upcoming season being $15.5 million cap hit and next season being up to $15 million. Honestly that is pretty reasonable and closer to his actual value as a quarterback in this league.

Yep, you're right - thought it was signing bonus money. So - how many picks are the Bears giving up for that toxic contract?

I would have to imagine it would cost the Bears more than just Cutler to the Titans and their 7th overall. I'm thinking Cutler would have to restructure/lower cash as part of the trade.

If the Titans can get Cutler's contract reduced and snag 7th overall + maybe a future 3rd rounder, IMO that's a deal. I'm not sold on Mariota at all. If we were talking Winston the Titans would be out of their damned mind.

This would be a pretty stupid move on the Bears part!! Not much of a fan of our Mr. 3 and out QB either but I'm not a fan of this Mariota fella either. He's one of those guys that is going to take awhile to mold into the NFL before he will start anywhere!!!! He's not a Winston coming out of the box! More like a Johnny Football without the issues. Still need to much on the DF and OF even after our FA picks!

I'm not against trading for Mariota and dumping Cutler but if they had to give up more than Cutler and their 1st round pick and maybe their 2nd or 3rd rounder in exchange for Tennessee's pick, it isn't worth it. They need good players everywhere and picks to get them.

Mariota may develop into a good QB, but he isn't worth the whole draft to get him. They're better off keeping Cutler this year and improving on defense. I'm probably in the minority, but I can actually see a resurgence from Cutler this year. This may be his last chance to be a regular starting QB in the NFL. Although I know he probably doesn't care because he's made a boatload of money and will be making a couple of more boatloads, but I'm optimistic he'll turn things around some. We'll see.
