Do we want Manning to return?

I'm not saying cut him because he has 2 years left and that would kill us in cap space and if he really wants to return I say let him but what do you guys, as fans of the Denver Broncos, personally want?

I think it's time he hangs it up, the biggest difference between this year and lasts is Manning's play in the 2nd half of the season. He broke down and the injuries finally caught up to him, and at age 39 if what's best for him is to retire then I would have no problem with that.

It's hard to say. You're asking on the heels of a very uninspired game. This team said all the right things through the bye week and came out looking so disinterested in winning one could see where this game was going very quickly. Even the drive they scored their only TD was aided by a couple Colts penalties. The team was garbage on both sides of the ball tonight.

Manning was definitely part of that. I'm not sure I can answer your question just yet. While he is a great player, and if he returns you can pretty much pencil the Broncos in for at least 10-6 and another trip to the playoffs, but we know he can't do it all alone. I think a DC who sees what he has with this roster and uses it to its strengths would go a long way toward overcoming some of the faults on offense. I'm not sure what JDR was doing tonight, and while I can't blame him for Manning's misfires, I think the defenses performance tonight and all season has been far below what we expected.

I think I'd welcome Manning back. Definitely not JDR.

Will he want to come back if D.T. and J.T. decide to leave for some reason but I don't see that happening but who knows? I agree on J.D.R. and I don't see how anyone else couldn't agree as well. When is enough just enough with J.D.R. Maybe if he was gone 3 years ago like I've been saying things could have been different. Just saying.

Actually, it would not kill us in cap space. It would free up around $16.5M in cap space according to overthecap.com. But he'd have to be cut before March 9th or else his salary for the season is fully guaranteed.

Personally, I'd like to see him go. It's been a nice run. It was nice to see another Super Bowl even though it was awful, but he's not the future. I saw nothing from Manning in the 2nd half of the year that says he's going to win one for us. He couldn't make the throws today against a lesser secondary and very little pressure. The biggest problem with keeping Manning, like I've stated already, is the need to bring in a coach experienced with winning. Otherwise it's too much to ask a new coach to win a Super Bowl.

Needless to say, I'm on the Fire Fox bandwagon. Have been for a bit.

For me it's a NO. That play today where he didn't run for the easy 1st down on 3rd and 5, says it all about Manning. He's a guy that's gonna put up pretty stats and win lots of games during the regular season, but doesn't have what it takes to get it done during the postseason. The postseason is a completely different animal. You have to do different things to win during postseason. Manning doesn't have the heart and toughness to be a great postseason QB. That's one of the reasons why he's gone 1 and done in the playoffs a record 9 times. I wan't to see what Brock can do. Time for this kid to play!

Actually, I thought the defense looked great on the first series of the game. They were putting pressure on Luck and Ware got the sack on 3rd down. The rest of the game outside of the series after the second field goal was definitely uninspired though.

I'd be surprised if DT leaves. I think the Broncos are going to make sure they keep him around. JT I believe is expendable. He and Welker both are good as gone. So the offense will be DT, Sanders, Virgil Green (who should have been a bigger part of the passing game all along) Latimer (rookie who barely saw the field this year) and Anderson/Hillman in the backfield. The team would need to make some upgrades to the OL, but overall this is still a pretty solid supporting cast.

Julius can't leave if Denver franchises him, if they decide to go that route. Problem with Julius is that he's played one full season out of four. But if I were Denver, the franchise tag would be prepared especially with how Graham's appeal went last offseason.

I'd rather have Pot Roast than JT if it came down to the franchise tag. I think we can live without Thomas but Knighton would be a big blow to our d-line.

That's going to be a lot of money, though. Especially once Suh gets his deal. According to CBS Sports breakdown, it's going to be, roughly, $11M as opposed to $8.27M for Julius. I'd rather Denver sign Knighton to a long term deal and have his cap number be far below that $11M figure.

Why not? This assumes Osweiler is garbage and I don't think we've seen enough to make that judgement. He certainly added a nice exclamation point in the Raiders game.

Should Manning decided he's done, that's a LOT of cap space to work with. That space can go a long way towards keeping talent. The more important factor is management. Stable management will go a LONG way towards keeping current talent, and attracting others. This will be a very interesting offseason for Elway to prove how good he really is.

Julius is not worth the money. 1 complete season. 1 season of success. Wants Gronk type of money. He can't run block and he does not have the fight that many other TEs have. Pass.

As for Manning, only he knows where he is really at. His performances have been lackluster recently but so has much of the team's. If Gase were to go somewhere to HC, that would be more incentive for Manning to retire. Would he want to learn a new offense at his age?

I think Elway and the broncos management have a lot of considerations. At the least we need a new DC. We need coaches that can get this team fired up and wanting to play rather than a bunch that quits when they don't get their way. I think if there is turnover among coaches then I see Manning retiring and that may not be a bad thing.

My heart says that I want him to return, my head says "not so fast". It's going to be an off season full of drama, unfortunately. A pretty sad day in Bronco land for sure. I think the team needs a couple days separation from that ugly game last night to start thinking with clear heads. Obviously as everyone has stated, Peyton's return will depend on a lot of other things (health, coaching staff, desire, confidence, etc.)

His thigh injury, whether it was a tear or a strain or whatever, was probably the main reason his accuracy and velocity fell off. If that's the case, he will heal from that and he may be able to still play at the high level that we have been accustomed to seeing.

Then again, no matter how well he can begin to play again, its a long season, and he's 38 years old. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Yeah Hutch like I mentioned earlier, it's a very tough decision for Elway just for the fact of which Manning will we see down the home stretch again. Battered and beat up 39 yr old is very likely and then do you throw OZ in there with no game experience and pressure? You know Elway has to be weighing that in his decision with Manning. I for one don't think Elway will risk it. I'm sure a decision will be made before too long. I'd hate to have to do it but odds are manning won't be in good shape heading down the stretch again.
