I wonder if playing Urban every year had something to do with his decision? The next Bo & Woody? He seems like the kind of guy who would love that challenge.

It's in his blood.

Harbaugh to Michigan is great for college football, fellow U-M alum, fans, the university, the local economy even... Many people don't understand the move and quite frankly, I don't expect them to.

All I have to say about is, GO BLUE!!!

Nope, currently on a Jet to Ann Arbor with his family; it's done

MB9, just out of curiosity, are you going to meet harbaugh at the airport with your knee pads on to greet him, say happy birthday, etc??? after all, "its happening, its really happening".......

That's what I'm talking about....with his winged helmet on, placed beside and directed toward Bo's...

I looked at when he coached Stanford .. not very impressive a coach there. . What makes you all think his NFL coaching will translate to college? We have seen this before. . And what if it takes years and years is Michigan willing to wait and pay him for that?

So taking a team that won one game to bowl and BCS eligibility is not impressive?

Congrats on the Harbaugh hire. Although not much to understand w/ this hire. Unlike Hoke & even RichRod JH bleeds maize & blue. This will be great for the conference & our Rivalry just got a helluva lot better.

Let me explain... I wasn't familiar with Stanfords record back then or who the coach/record was before Harbaugh.. when i looked at their record under H... no to me that wasn't impressive. . I also thought he was only there for 3 seasons not 4.. He did decent but seems to me in Cali he should have pretty good talent but since i don't follow the Pac and their recruiting i really don't know. . Plus just glancing at the first three years with out the previous w/l knowledge you could see where i was coming from

It's also good for the B1G and college football in general, he's been a hard-working winner both as a player and a coach....if Aaron Bailey doesn't drop that pass the colts go to the Super Bowl and Neil O'Donnell doesn't get the chance to throw two of the most obscenely easy picks in NFL history to Larry Brown. :suds:

Don't like Harbaugh. But we are talking about turning around a 1 win nerd school to a team that would have qualified for a playoff had there been one in place.

This isn't Florida academic and integrity standards. This is a prestigious school.

Where I agree it's a BIT premature (Bo vs. Woody), his resume seems to indicate he's good at turning programs around (both in college and the NFL), he bleeds Maize-n-Blue and will make a HUGE impact on recruiting - were Buckeye fans not salivating like Pavlov dogs when Urbie was announced as your new head coach?

Michigan is the 'Harvard of the West', but I wouldn't knock Gainesville, that's a pretty darn good school, FSU on the other hand enrolls savants like Jameis Winston......... :pound:

Hmm, let's see how he did at Stanford:

2006 (the year before he arrived): Stanford goes 1-11 (1-8 PAC).
2007 (1st year): Stanford goes 4-8 (3-6 PAC) and upsets #2 ranked USC as a 41 point underdog.
2008: Stanford goes 5-7 (4-5 PAC)
2009: Stanford goes 8-5 (6-3 PAC) and makes a bowl game for the first time since 2001.
2010: Stanford goes 12-1 (8-1 PAC), wins the Orange Bowl 40-12 (their first bowl win since 1996) and finishes ranked #4 in the country.

Clearly, nothing that he did at Stanford shows that he can be a successful college coach.

Michigan isn't in the west. Maybe in the 1800s it was considered "west"

But nah.

Stanford is on the level of Harvard.

I like the Simpsons episode where Ned Flanders thinks the rapture has come as all the streets are flooded, then Maude says "Neddie, isn't that Homer Simpson?" who is rowing a raft and Ned replies "Harumph, it looks like Heaven is easier to get in to than Arizona State!" PRICELESS!!! :suds:
