Thats just it, we don't really know how smart Allen is. I can't think of anything he's done thats made me think "wow, great decision".

To the second bolded part, thats my point. The truly good ones we have leave here as soon as they can, and they don't come here from outside because they've got better offers elsewhere.

Allen does a great job with the contracts and the numbers. I don't question his intelligence, but that doesn't mean he has an eye for talent. It also doesn't mean that he has the backbone to stare the owner down when he wants to meddle (like the Dallas FO did with Jerrah over Manziel). But really, in finding good talent, the scouting dept is the critical component. I don't know if we don't have good scouts or we just don't listen to them. But we have not done particularly well with the draft choices we have made. Of course, this may go back to the second point you highlighted......no great scouts want to come and work in this three ring circus.

Colt played a great game. Kirk could not have done some of the things he did. Most importantly, Colt showed he can lead the team for 60 minutes and does not get down after a bad play like Kirk has. He showed what kind of competitor he is.

All true. But lets remember that Colt has been in the league for 5 years and was a starter for a couple of seasons. He should be further along than Kirk. But Kirk is becoming an after thought on this team. He will be gone, maybe as soon as this offseason.

Yeah and I think that's a shame, I'd rather have Kirk as our longterm backup. . Colt was pretty good last night but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Most of his completions were very short passes, passes Griff got drilled for completing in the opener. He was in charge of an offense that had multiple problems in presnap with delays and too many men in the huddle. He was also bad in the first half, so bad many of us wanted them to switch to Kirk.

By the way WTF is up with a 15 yard penalty for too many men in the huddle?

Is that what that penalty was for? I couldn't figure it out and couldn't hear the TV where I was. There were a bunch of stupid penalties last night.....how many delay of game penalties did we take?

I try not to cry about the refs but we got it bad last night. On a big play to Murray in the first half there was a clear hold. Another on Trent was missed on a big completion. In OT a facemask against Alf was missed, that would have been huge. A few others that I can't remember, all seemed to go against us including one that was pointed out by the announcers.

Yeah they gotta change that rule, 15 yards for too many men in the huddle is ridiculous.

Your young corners really stepped up last night. Maybe there is more talent on that young D than I believed. Then again, Romo looked like crap, especially after taking that big hit.

That game pretty much validated your entire season. No matter what happens, you can look back on that and say your team represented against its arch rival, and possibly knocked Romo out and prevented a deep playoff run. Impressive...

I'm not going to pretend I understand exactly what that 15 yard unsportsmanlike was for, but it turns out there is a 15 yarder in the book for it. It looks like they are trying to keep the offensive team from intentionally deceiving the defense by substitutions. I have NO idea if that is what happened last night because they never showed a replay of it, but it is what they called.

Kirk is done.

You saw what Colt was doing on the sidelines encouraging and I'm "100 PERCENT POSITIVE" apologizing to Djax for those under throws. That sticks in a guys mind. Tells the receiver, ok let's do it again and get it this time.
The guy is a leader and his enthusiasm was contagious last night.

Probably right. But I wouldn't buy that McCoy jersey just yet.

Oh I totally get that it's a rule and you are right, it's to prevent the O from deceiving. Still most of the time it's a simple screw up and 15 yarders should be saved for really bad penalties, not this cheap stuff.

25/30. 299 yards, INT, rushing TD, 5/5 on game winning drive (just like last week)
12 yards per completion.

Colt. Wins.

It's great that you are a fan of Colt and he did a good job in the 2nd half but if you listened to anything about halftime last night the WRs were PISSED at Colt. It all worked out and everyone is happy. Winning is a cure for most everything.

Balls???? BALLS???? Do you honestly believe that what we saw last night was Haslett finding his balls or being forced into the scheme that he used? Dallas owns/ owned the top rushing offense in the NFL. How does one stop a running team? They generally put 8 in the box, which is what he did. With 8 in the box you can either drop that safety off from time to time or send him at the QB. Dropping the safety opens the field to the RB who would kill on dump-offs. Using the safety or LB'er to shadow the RB, leaves the other to rush the QB, either way he's forced to trust his young corners, who played well, but did so because he was forced to play them as he did. Bet the Vikings don't get looks like that all day....Meriweather, will be back manning his old post where he's weak and come Monday some will be back, lamenting the defensive play calling.
