Sorry, it doesn't work that way. Once he is a FA, no one has rights to him. Moreover, with him already saying he is elite and has nothing to prove, who would want to deal with that given he has a total of 1/2 sacks this year? So, again, who would be willing to trade for him?

No one is going to trade us something, just for the right to franchise him and pay him another $12M, and no other team is going to trade two #1s for him either, not now, not next summer, not ever. He's NOT a game changer, in any way, shape or form.

Honestly, I don't see that happening. He will be a free agent after this season. Plus, he is getting $11.25 mil for this year. I truly believe this is his last season in Washington. He just disappears as a pass-rushing threat, too much. This team needs more consistency from the pass-rushing LB position, and Orakpo doesn't provide that.

I agree, however, this team should ONLY want him back if he bulks up, adds a spin move and a couple of others to his arsenal and is prepared to play DE exclusively. The position that he was drafted to play.

SN: He just might be elite....but not in the manner resembling Dexter, more like that of C. Mann.

Love to have him back at around $4-$6M per season. No thanks at the franchise tag or the $10-$12 he will want as a UFA.

He is probably too small to play DE in a 4-3 and is way to small to play DE in a 3-4. Because his college position was DE does not mean that translates to De in the NFL. It is common to draft smaller college DEs and move them to OLB in the pros. OLB in a 3-4 in the NFL is a hybrid DE position. If any OLB on the team were to switch it would be Kerrigan or Murphy because they have the frame to add weight and that would be as 4-3 ends. They currently do that in nickel packages.

Ryan Kerrigan = 6' 4" tall 260 pounds

Brian Orakpo = 6' 4" tall 260 pounds

Adding another 30 pounds or so can't be that hard to do.......muscle and fat

Then he never should have been drafted! I say this draft a man for what he's best at, an coming out of school he didn't play LBer he played DE.....and this is important, was pretty good at it! Bottom line Poor management from the FO.
