Sorry for the long winded speech here, but for those of you who know me….. you know I say my piece regardless of the popular opinion.
I value my anonymous friendships I have developed over the years with many of you and the new relationships I have developed since being here. I consider many, if not most of you, friends in some capacity. What does that mean to you, probably nothing but I am saying it anyway as I think too many times people don’t say things that are meaningful to people because they are afraid of being looked at in a certain way.
My longest standing board friendship starts with (Hawkeyehater formerly known as KStatehater and goes back to 2007). He is one reason if not the main reason I came to SportsHoopla to join this group. Although he jokes around, talks a good game about (f) this or that, you can be assured that he has a morally correct and ethical way he lives his life and I have valued his opinions and viewpoints he shares with all of us.
Popeye also was instrumental in having me come on board here at SportsHoopla and although I do not know him as well, he takes the proper stance or position in the way he treats people with respect, thus; I have appreciated his friendship and words of wisdom… over the years!
Yes, JJM you too are a friend from the ole Disney channel as well as RA, Husker girl, Papa Lou and others and I know I am not mentioning some of you, but it’s not because I am trying to avoid you or diss you… it’s because I am trying to limit this to make a point. I rule, I have become good friends with you in the time I have been here and appreciate not only what you post, but the positions you take in posting them or monitoring what is posted. It also appears you have some decent connections somewhere inside as you guys call it.
OK, to the point..
In my capacity (vocation, beliefs and value system), I have helped people as much as possible throughout my life. The World we live in is not always fair and when I see something (that in my opinion) needs to be recognized or brought up, I am not afraid to say so. Some of the kids I see come through our doors have had a very tough upbringing with separated parents, gang influences or just poor economics.
It is absolutely imperative that these kids are shown the proper way to be in life, not just in football. One of my main goals has been to help mold kids to become great leaders, fathers, brothers and friends all the while having respect for others and themselves.
I would like to take this one brief moment to recognize a particular poster for what I consider to be a positive influence to all!
Red Alert;
You my friend are a great example of someone who loves his kids/family, and takes the time to know what is important to them and their future. You are not afraid to post what you are doing with your kids (going to school to have lunch with them, reading books to them and such). I so admire the position you take in raising your kids and thought I should at least let you know that some of us see this and recognize how important this is. KUDO’S my friend….
I know this sounds like a big soap opera, and Yes, I am a Big guy and if you were to see me, you would not think that I have the type of involvement or interactions with people that I do or think that someone of my bulk would even allow others to think they have a soft spot for people, but I do and I am. I am a religious man who believes in the Almighty and am not afraid to say so, but I will not preach to you or try to convert you. Your life choices are yours and yours alone.
I also would like to say, to all posters here at SportsHoopla, if I have ever caused you to feel that I have disrespected you in a personal way, please accept this apology as my intent has never been to get personal. Yes, I may have a difference of opinion on a post that is made or a stance of negativity… but that would be because of my life experiences of knowing what is… or is not…. important (in my opinion).
Now that I have spilled this to you gentlemen and lady posters… the one warning I can give you is…. all is well as long as you keep you fucking fingers away from my food. LOL
By the way..for those of you who take the fact that I like to eat as something whereby you thought I was just a blob… I am now down to 297lbs with a body fat of 13% (back to my old playing weight!). Not bad for a ex-player who weighed as much as 345 a year ago!
I conclude this public service message by saying…
Be Good, Be Safe and Be Proud to be a Husker… our staff does it right when it comes to taking care of our kids…
God Bless;
