The umps really blew that call too. Just about everything that could go wrong in the final inning did.

Whole point of replay is to get a call right and if you can't tell from replay that he went further than 3ft outside what was the baseline then there is a room full of idiots in New York. Pitiful, however if Beltre goes to first it wouldn't matter I don't guess. Another bad call on a replay though for the Rangers

No.........

Not scoring after a leadoff triple would make more sense to bitch about. But yeah, blame Wash... :L

If that's the case....Can't wait for the "Wash should have used Choice to PH for Martin" posts....

Why not ph for Martin. He stinks at the plate right now and a lefty was pitching. And why isn't Pettis in Rios ear telling him to lead off more with the lefty on the mound and his back to 3rd and yelling at him to go on contact. And having Giminez bunt with 0 outs in the 4th and a man on 2nd and the guy is hitting 444 and still have him try and bunt with 2 strikes takes the cake. Now I am not saying that cost us the game but that is a stupid, stupid decision and there is no defending that.

Not sure why you're giving him the overused facepalm icon there. Nothing he said was incorrect. It was incredibly stupid to call for a bunt with 2 strikes and one of the hottest hitters at the plate. That's just very poor management and goes against one of the most basic principles taught to players as young as little league age. Nowhere did he say that failing to bring Rios in from 3rd wasn't just as bad. Nowhere did he say that this loss was all Wash's fault.

I don't think it went to replay. I wasn't sure why it didn't.

More often than not a loss like this lingers. Not only that but the Twins are feeling pretty good right now having stole one. Having Saunders on the mound tomorrow doesn't have me feeling confident that we'll win tomorrow.

I say that is a fallacy of sorts. It all depends on the mental make up of the players and the team itself. Also, even if a team were to lose several games following a game like this that doesn't mean it was because of this loss. It could simply be because they were out played each game. Very tough to prove what you are saying here. Could it happen, sure... but will it, we will see. What good can come out of predicting negative outcome?

Saunders doesn't instill a lot of confidence in me either but there is no sense in going into the game or upcoming series of games with your head down- whats fun about that? I sure wouldn't want our players to do that. I know teams sometimes feed off there fans and right now they need us more than ever to rally behind them. We are the dogs once again and the odds are stacked against us... lets just stand behind them and see if they what they can do. If it doesn't work out, we can cry about it when the season is over.

I have a strong feeling the only part that is reviewable is the play at the bag. His route to the bag may not be reviewable. But not positive about that.

I missed after the first 4 innings but maybe it wasn't reviewable, just caught the tail end of the play and then couldn't watch the end. Figured it would probably end in a loss after that

This group has a history of not bouncing back from tough losses - Boston, and especially that Seattle debacle. Still, I bitch and moan, but I'll be back tomorrow...

Honestly, I just thinks we remember it more when they don't bounce back than when they do. Here are a few examples of when they did

4/5/2014 @ TB-Rangers up 4-3 until Tampa comes back... Cotts blows by giving up 2 in the bottom of the 8th
Next day Rangers Shutout the Rays 3-0.

4/20/14 vs Sox- Rangers get spanked 16-2 at home
the next series, they go on to sweep the A's

4/25/14 @ M's- Ranger Up 3-2 until the Bottom of the 8th when Cotts gives up 4 runs
Next game Rangers win 6-3

So, it sort of goes both ways.

Yeah, I don't know if it is but I bet it isn't reviewable or Wash would have been out there. He clearly was out of the basepath. Still, I bet Beltre would even tell you he should have just took the easy out at 1B. It's an ugly one but its not the first and won't be the last. We will probably win a few this way too.

DMN news:

unez inexplicably headed to third on the play, swerved toward the outfield to avoid Beltre, cut back to the bag and was ruled safe by third-base umpire Mike DiMuro. According to crew chief umpire Jerry Layne, because Nunez was not attempting to avoid a tag, he had the freedom to go outside the basepath.

“There was never an attempt to make a tag,” Layne said. “If [Beltre] would have stuck his glove out to try to make an attempt, we have a different play. Ninety-nine percent of the time, they attempt to make a tag. He never made an attempt.”

Beltre said he had never seen this call in his 17-year major league career, adding with a tinge of sarcasm, “We’ve got a new rule that you can go to left field and come back to third; I should have known that.” Washington said Beltre should have made the throw to first rather than hold the ball as if mesmerized by Nunez’ antics.

“That’s what it is,” Washington said. “There’s no debate there. He’s got to take the out at first.”

Agree 100% with RW there. Beltre had a brain freeze on that play and it cost them.

I screamed all night about Beltre's judgment in the 9th on that play

Understandable. Just go's to show ya, even a 17 year, top notch player can still go brain dead.

Honestly... Baker holding them to 2 runs was pretty solid... i wouldn't say pitching lost this one. It was poor defense or defensive decisions. I am still just happy we were in it with Baker on the mound. He stepped it up a bit today.

I agree......Baker more than adequately did what he was suppose to do.

that's true.
This teams misfortunes thus far on the actual field is a complete team effort. Much greater than the decisions made or not made from the dugout.

I for one am more than pleased with Baker's outing and will be even more thankful after I watch Saunders sorry ass give up 6 runs in less than 4 innings tonight.

Don't think anyone mentioned anything about decisions from the dugout but you. Why do you feel the need to always bring it up?
