I never got how no contest plea worked. Is it like I'm kinda guilty but not fully guilty so give me a lesser sentence?

If I remeber correct it means he's accepting the punishment but isn't pleading guilty to it

Usually in a plea agreement, no contest means you aren't pleading guilty, but that you admit that the charge(s) in the indictment are the truth and you would probably be found guilty if you fought the charge (the probably part is my interpretation).

It was the smart play on his part because he isn't likely to serve jail time over it and it's not like he had a case for not guilty anyways.

I see probation, fines and some community service in Smith's future. Hopefully Fuhrer Goodell doesnt lower
the boom stick to hard and Aldon doesn't miss a lot of game time.

This. I'm not sure about the county in which Aldon was charged, but I know some parts of California offer a Sheriffs Work Alternative Program that allows defendants to pay a fine and do community service in lieu of small amounts of jail time (half a year or less). It's done a lot in cases of DUIs.

No contest...Nolo contendere=I do not wish to contend.
Neither an admission nor denial of guilt. It is often used when the defendant would expect a jury of his peers to convict him. This provides for swift punishment without wasting court time and money. Usually the punishment is reduced as the court recognizes the speed and the efficiency of justice because of the plea.

It's hard to say what the commish is going to do because he let Aldon off the hook last time since he self suspended himself last time by going to rehab.

I'm going to guess he'll get 4-6 games.

Did the commish really let him off the hook? I thought the punishment for DUI's were still to be determined. The only thing I recall the commish saying was that they would take his voluntary time off for rehab into consideration when the league determines punishment. Haven't heard anything else.

This seems way too high.

I hope he doesn't even get a game suspension. NFL players get busted for petty shit all the time and nothing happens to them.

I personally don't see a suspension for Aldon in games missed. I think the Furor takes game checks from Aldon and call it a day. Players don't get 5 games for DUI's at least not the 2nd one and the gun charges I think was bunk in the 1st place.
