Nick saban reads sportshoopla. All those west coast guys changed his mind. Thanks PAC dudes.

Can't wait to see how the FCS game proponents who happen to be tide fans explain this one away. Or will they suddenly say they always wanted the end of them all along? :noidea:

So you haven't read any of the posts telling us how badly those in state FCS games are needed I take it. You know, to help out the budgets of those smaller schools. I mean you aren't playing teeshirt polytech for an easy ride, it's for noble reasons right? :laugh3:

pssst. If you haven't ever defended that practice yourself then you wouldn't qualify as one of the 'FCS game proponents' mentioned above now would you?

I found this part pretty interesting, suggests that possibly there are outside the conference influences swaying the vote.

I didn't think our conference would be so easily influenced to stay at the current way that we do it,'' Saban said.

As i have stated on more than one occasion, this is about money and this statement helps to prove that theory.

Love it. I've wanted this to happen for quite some time. An extra plus to this is that there would only be so many shitty teams, so not everyone would be able to schedule 3 noncon cupcakes.

Come to Colorado son. We might not win many ball games, but every major school in the country is lined up to play us. Want to play against the big boys since you aren't good enough to be recruited by them? Want to face Ohio State? LSU? Maybe Oklahoma or Nebraska? Then this is the place for you! Sign right here...

This should be the next step towards the Power 5 conferences separating to a new division.

No sense in Power 5 schools playing FCS opponents, much less lapping up on the Eastern Michigan's and La-Laffy's of the college football world.

And yes, I know Nebraska is playing an embarrassing FCS opponent yet again this year. That shit has to stop.

who cares if a team only wins 5 games and goes to a bowl.

guess what, saban? the school loses money and it's nothing but a free trip for the student-athletes, if we can even call them that anymore. just let every team go to a bowl.

no one would want to do with unless EVERYONE had to do it, because no one wants to a lose a game during the regular season, i.e. the beauty contest before the playoff selection where winning matters.

Smart. He knows the rest of TEAM SEC would never allow it but can look like he wants it even though he doesn't.

I would just like to see Power 5 teams stop scheduling FCS teams

As a MTSU fan, I actually like and look forward our OOC games vs Power 5 teams, so really would hate for that to end

Florida Atlantic NOT Power 5
Southern Miss NOT Power 5
Western Carolina NOT even FBS (although the catamounts do play Furman, Brevard, Catawba, Presbyterian, Wofford, and Mercer)

Seems to be more of a "Do as we say, not as we do." I know of another school like that.

Alabama's OOC opponents were 13-35 last year, a .271 winning percentage.

Alabama has the 12th easiest SEC schedule.

Alabama has the EASIEST SEC West Schedule.

OK, maybe it is an aberration, no in 2013 Alabama had the 40th rated schedule before the season started.

OK, 2011, surely Alabama had the toughest rated schedule before the season started, nope again, 26th, Indiana was in 24th.

2012 Alabama did have the #3 schedule before the season started.

Saban should only talk like this when he can back it up.

Although their OOC schedule could be tougher (hell, everyone's could), he's not going to schedule four Power 5 OOC opponents unless everybody else has to. That would be kinda foolish... lol

Look, I'm the first person to call bullshit when some of those folks in the SEC talk out both sides of their ass, but this isn't one of them.

He is saying he would vote for an end to the status quo if everyone else is on board with it. Until there is a consensus to change there is no incentive for them to do so alone.

Yes, a few brave souls deciding to not follow the others can make some impact, but Bama alone wouldn't change anything. It would take at least their whole conference. More likely a deal between all of the power conferences or all of them leaving the NCAA and forming a new power conference only organization.
