VY got released because he sucks. Its the same reason he was signed and released in the same preseason the previous 2 years also.

But it's entertaining that they signed him, patted him on the back when they welcomed him to cleveland, assured him of "competition" for starting roll, then washed him out like dirty laundry. Reminds me of how they treat their coaches & FO.

They took a flyer on him and apparently he didn't impress much. Same thing happened to VY the 2 previous seasons with different teams.

The fact is that the Browns got a number of younger guys that they'd like to look at instead of the known and lesser commodity that VY is now.
