Right now. Would say Seattle 7-8 out of 10 times. Defense is stifling

Yeah I expect Seattle to win this one but not in blow out fashion. That first game of the season is a tricky one to gauge as they will be raising the Super Bowl Banner, all the media around that game, and so much more that Seattle could come out a bit flat. It has happened before. Look at Baltimore last year just getting destroyed. The year before that the Giants just looked pathetic. The year before that Green Bay barely won a shoot out. Throw in since every team will be gunning for the Super Bowl Champ I'm guessing Green Bay will come to play. Again still expect Seattle to pull it together and win but it also wouldn't surprise me if they struggle game one.

Well if that article about Seattle not getting prime time games cause they keep blowing people out is accurate... the nfl is setting up GB to fail.

The 12th man is going to be out of their minds when they see the banner. No way imho seattle comes out flat in that atmosphere.

We shall see. I thought Manning would be primed big time this past year for returning back to the Colts stadium but he came out very flat. He said afterwards that the emotion of the week leading up to the game took its toll on him and was more than he thought it would be. This will be a highly emotional next few months leading up to the game with it being Seattle's first Super Bowl and the city just amped up. Months of being at that level can take a toll on anybody.

Whats keeping Russell Wilson from moving the chains with his legs over and over again?

I never meant to say Seattle D is not elite. What I meant is an elite 100% GB squad vs an elite 100% Seattle squad would result in a GB victory. Was in no way trying to belittle Seattle.

Also appears Seahawks fans took over the poll.

Looking at the folks that posted in this thread and removing all Seahawk posters and you this is what I noted.
3 GB fans no voted, each made a comment but none picked a winner.
1 Chi fan picked Seattle.
1 Raven fan picked Seattle.
1 SF fan picked Seattle.
1 Denver fan picked Seattle.
1 NE fan picked Seattle.

Pumpkinhead and Clayton sounded to me like they leaned towards Seattle but I did not count them.
I got 5 zip and just cuz you dont like the results of this vote you blame Hawk fans for taking over. Too bad there wasn't an avi bet included.
Also, killer backtrack on the GB is elite and Seattle isn't.

Everyone hops on the SB winning team's bandwagon the year after they win it. I was expecting Seattle to win the poll mainly because they just won the SB combined with the amount of SEA fans on this site. If this same poll is on ESPN.com I guarantee its not a 3-1 ratio favoring Seattle.

More important question is, how much will the Niners beat Dallas by?

:L Or maybe the average fan is giving respect to one of the best teams in football at protecting their home field as well as a team who in their last game totally destroyed one of the best offenses in league history.

Your sense that everyone outside of Seattle would believe GB comes into the Clink in game one on the night they are raising their SB banner and beat them is very misguided.

I'm not saying Seattle will win, but it is way more than reasonable for most people to give Seattle the edge at home in this game. If you took your homer glasses off you would see that too.

Most likely, but he already demonstrated how non-Seattle fans favored Seattle in the voting. :L

I work right next to a die hard Green Bay fan and asked him the following questions:

"Who wins week 1?"
"Oh Seattle easily *laughed*"

"What if it was in Green Bay? Toss up?"
"Hmm, I'd probably go with Seattle just because our D is still a question mark. But if our D gets better it could be closer."

Quite intelligent and thoughtful person, and as stated a die hard Green Bay fan.

So what did you do instead of watching the super bowl??? Seattles d took one of the best offenses in nfl history and actually outscored them by themselves. I know your prob a fantasy footballer but in real football defense still applies. And the superbowl showed what a legendary d can do to a legendary o

Speaking of D dont forget how below average gbs d was last year...thhis just in kap just scrambled for another first down

Raising the banner and playing under the lights in the noise box for what could be the only time this year? They're going to slaughter them. I know that people seem to get upset when Seahawk fans predict an ass whooping, but they've become quite common.

All I know is someone started a thread asking who people thought would be superbowl favorites. People answered with their teams and then Azdbacks (shouldn't you be a Cards fan?) comes in like "nobody respects us! seattle fans don't respect rodgers, don't question him he's unstoppable" trying to create a chip for himself when no one here has ever really questioned rodgers.
