Seattle, and it's not even close.

Better question would be, Seattle or Chicago

Aaron Rodgers is elite. The Seahawks are no slouch but if we are talking about each team bringing their elite game to the field, 1000% focused I have to take the Packers offense over the Seattle D. Will be a close game but Seattle comes up short. No disrespect towards Seattle.

Just for some perspective here:

When Rodgers has a full cast of healthy receivers and he is healthy himself, no one can stop him. I'm sorry but i don't care who your defense is. (I'm talking to you Seattle) you guys know it too. When Rodgers is 100% it's almost impossible to beat him.

Seattle fans base their whole perception of Green Bay off of the fail Mary game. You guys act as if Russell Wilson is elite or something. He's not. I love Wilson and root for the badgers but the only reason Seattle beat GB is the replacement refs. Seattle is a good team but when both teams are healthy, Green Bay is elite and Seattle is not.

If Aaron Rodgers is so much more elite than the Seattle D, why did he only pass for 223 yards and no TD the last time these teams met? The replacement refs didn't sack him 8 times, the Seahawks D, which is even better right now than it was then did.

In Seattle, no question Seattle would be favorites.

In GB, GB would be favored.

On a neutral field, I would guess that Seattle would be a slight favorite.

Sorry AZ-DbacksAZ, but Seattle is a more well-rounded team. Their offense is might be behind GBs but they are still capable and the Seahawks defense is FAR superior to GBs.

Offense-
Seattle and GB both averaged 26.1 ppg. So Seattle had
Rushing yards- Seattle #4, GB #7
Passing yards- GB #6; Seattle #26

Defense-
Total D- Seattle #1, GB #25
Passing D- Seattle #1, GB #24
Rushing D- Seattle #7, GB #25
Scoring D- Seattle #1 (14.4ppg), GB #25 (26.8ppg)
INTs- Seattle #1 (28 total), GB #26 (11 total)
Give/Takeaways- Seattle +20, GB -3

Should I go on? You disrespect to the Seattle defense by stating that they are not capable of stopping Rodgers is just plain ridiculous. Rodgers could have a good game against them but he could also go for 4 INTs against that D. Of all of the statisical catagories I listed (and I tried to list all of the "main" catagories) GB had the advantage in only 1 catagory (passing yards) and Seattle is a run first team with a QB who had a very high passing rating and was very efficent.
Rodgers had a 104.9 passing rating, which was 5th in the league, in his injury shortened season and Wilson had a 101.2 passing rating, which was 7th in the league.

I could go on by looking at the individual defensive passing effeciency ratings. This would show that Sherman, Thomas, and Maxwell were 3 of the highest rated players in the NFL (Sherman was #1) in terms of defending against the pass.

Your opinion is not backed by factual information. Bring something to the table next time instead of just a bunch of hot air.

Its hard to say that both teams are healthy...OTAs havent even started.

Another thing, without knowing how the draft goes, I think it is premature to say who would win.

The Seahawk's are the champs for a reason. They will need to be knocked down a few times before I can start favoring another team over them.

You did miss it. See the "So, who is the early favorite for SB" thread.

AZ-DbacksAZ:

"When Rodgers has a full cast of healthy receivers and he is healthy himself, no one can stop him. I'm sorry but i don't care who your defense is. (I'm talking to you Seattle) you guys know it too. When Rodgers is 100% it's almost impossible to beat him."

Now I respect GB and Rodgers. Very good team and excellent QB, but to state that he is elite and unstoppable compared to Seattle's D is a bit ridiculous.

If Rodgers is elite then what does that make the Seahawk's defense? They only had one of the statisically greatest seasons of all-time last year.

Seattle has only lost once at home in 2 years and went 17-1 in that span (including the playoffs). In their last game they absolutely manhandled what many considered to be the greatest offense of all time. As a Seahawks fan, this game scares me. But it would be foolish for anything to think that the Hawks go into that game as an underdog

This is where the discussion originated

Yet he's 0-4 against the NFC West's two best teams in the past two years

Seattle fans can question Rodgers all they want. Keep talking. It's funny

I don't recall anyone here ever "questioning" Aaron Rodgers, especially Seattle fans. If anything most of us have been highly complimentary of Aaron Rodgers.

Seattle fans base their whole perception of Green Bay off of the fail Mary game. You guys act as if Russell Wilson is elite or something. He's not. You may not think Seattle is elite, but their defense, their resume, and their play on the field the past couple of years since they have gotten this entire unit together speaks for itself.

This is no disrespect to Aaron Rodgers, because I personally feel like he's the best quarterback in the game when you rate based on age, talent, and production.

However...nothing Aaron Rodgers or the Green Bay Packers have done in the past 2 years would indicate that they would be "impossible" to stop. Seattle on the other hand has faced every top qb (both pocket and mobile) in the league and the results speak for themselves

Tom Brady - In a year where Brady barely threw any interceptions, Seattle picked him off twice and won
Drew Brees - Held to 7 pts and 147 yds passing the first game then shut out through 3 quarters the 2nd game
Tony Romo - Held to 7 pts
Cam Newton - Has looked terrible twice against Seattle...scored 19 pts total in 2 games
Aaron Rodgers - Sacked 8 times
Colin Kaepernick - No comment needed
Peyton Manning - Superbowl 48

I understand that anytime you have a QB like Aaron Rodgers, you have a puncher's chance. And I don't think anyone here is guaranteeing Seattle will win week 1. But to think that Green Bay will be impossible to beat is a borderline troll statement.

But I have nothing against it...bring on the early smack talk

I was assuming he was talking about the season opening game which is slated to be in Seattle. If the question was more theoretical and he meant on a neutral field then maybe there is some room for debate. Short of that there isn't any team in the league that would be favored over Seattle in their house right now. Obviously that doesn't mean they can't be beat at home, but if you were told you had to put up $1,000 of your money straight up on that game would you still bet it on GB?

I wouldn't pick Seattle to blow them out by any means, but find a way to win at home?

The lack of respect by the gb guy for what Seattle JUST did vs Peyton Manning an equally HOF'y qb who was leading the best offense statistically of all time is alarming.

Another stat that wasn't mentioned. Seattles D OUT SCORED Denvers O.......

I will say last time these teams faced off we didn't have anything that resembled a running game and had Marshall Newhouse and Jeff Saturday on the O line which is a main reason 8 sacks were given up. Those mistakes have been mostly fixed and this game should be an awesome game to watch. Sept can't come soon enough

I would still favor Seattle but I wouldn't expect a blowout by any means.

The Packers could emulate what the Saints did to the Seattle in the playoffs to keep it close and interesting. The Saints lost but they still managed to get 400 yards of offense on them and if the Packers could turn more of that yardage into points they could sneak in a victory.

And that game was before Seattle picked up Bennett and Avril. If they had 8 sacks while they were an average at best pass rush, how much different would it be now?

Seattle was decent that year, but far more dominating last year. They have improved all over the field since that game. Wilson is much more mature and in that first game you are likely to have a healthy Harvin and Rice back. Look what Wilson did with what much of the league classified as average receivers and then add those two back and see what happens.

I expect a good game as GB never craps the bed, but I'd bet on Seattle all day in that game.

On the flip side though the Packers have a legitimate running game so if used properly it should slow down the pass rush.

Also Peppers and moving Raji back to NT should improve their defense.

I would still wouldn't hesitate to bet Seattle but I expect it to be a pretty competitive and close game.

Yeah I expect Seattle to win this one but not in blow out fashion. That first game of the season is a tricky one to gauge as they will be raising the Super Bowl Banner, all the media around that game, and so much more that Seattle could come out a bit flat. It has happened before. Look at Baltimore last year just getting destroyed. The year before that the Giants just looked pathetic. The year before that Green Bay barely won a shoot out. Throw in since every team will be gunning for the Super Bowl Champ I'm guessing Green Bay will come to play. Again still expect Seattle to pull it together and win but it also wouldn't surprise me if they struggle game one.

And Seattle only got a billion times better on offense since then.
