We will see what happens with all of Seattle's picks vs all of SF's picks. You guys can keep trying to cherry pick data, but we won't let you do it.

The draft is 7 rounds, not 3. Just because you can't push out 5th and 6th round pros the way Seattle can doesn't mean you can pretend they don't exist.

I'm cherry picking data? I was responding to your argument.

But JS/PC's picks with those 3 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> your 8. Book it.

You were wrong about the numbers, but your sentiment is clear: the Hawks' picks in the top-100 will vastly outperform the Niners'. So we'll see what happens. Obviously the enduring success of both franchises will have to do with much more than that, but you made a claim and stood by it for several days. Don't run away from it now.

What you don't know for a fact is how many of those picks were his. Big difference in being a scout and being a GM. Conjecture that the 2010 draft was a Baalke draft is just conjecture and can not be counted as his history, no matter how much 49ers fans want to include it.

As far as JS and Pete, feel free to give Pete as much credit as you feel he deserves. He certainly has his say in the draft.

I didn't ask about Pete's credit. I asked about JS's credit. Unless you can say for certain which picks were entirely his decision?

And I was responding to someone else. I didn't make up the top 100 bullshit. That was a 49'er. Thus me saying you all can keep trying to cherry pick what you want.

The draft is 7 rounds. Let's see which team does better. I'd be shocked if Seattle doesn't have more of theirs in prominent roles 5 years from now than your team does.

Again, you're the one who made the statement. If you're backing away from it now, no one would blame you. It was a stupid statement, and we all know you're just a blowhard.

We'll see what happens in the first 100 picks, in the whole draft, and in the seasons to come. It should be interesting.

As far as I'm concerned, JS and PC are a unit in the front office. I would think the same would apply to JH and TB, but perhaps not , seeing all the tension in 49er land and the rumors of trading JH to Cleveland. Perhaps those two are not seeing eye to eye about who to draft.

I'm not backing away from anything. I pointed out why I like our chances over yours no matter how many slots each has. I personally think your team and organization are total garbage. And I think a good many of your fans are right there with them.

Your team isn't going to get better this off season. Sorry, that's the facts. You won't be going after the positions you need to get over that hump and I'm damned happy you won't.

As for blow hard, seems you are looking in a mirror when saying that. It's ok, that's all 9'er fans have these days.

Ok, so JS and PC are a unit. And however the Niners' picks were made in 2010, it's quite clear that Baalke was directly and intimately involved. Anyway, I'm done arguing this. Feel free to exclude 2010 from Baalke's tab. We'll see what happens with the teams going forward.

I've enjoyed the debate Crimsoncrew, not often you have one on the general board that sticks to talking football.
Just remember , the important thing isn't winning the offseason.

I must admit, I find the two sentiments expressed above quite amusing. The Hawks fans in this thread have demonstrated the collective maturity of a ten-year-old boy. And the same level of insecurity.

I don't see it that way, but I wear a different color of glasses.

I know that he was the #1 personnel guy on the team. I know that after the draft, he was the one who ran the press conference talking about each of the drafted players. I know that the next year he was named the GM. So yes, I know that he was the driving force behind the decisions that were made in that draft.

Question: does John Schneider not deserve any credit for the drafts while he's been with the team? After all, we can never be certain how much input Carroll had over particular draft picks.

It is kept pretty quiet but really PC and JS work together in building the roster. Some examples, it was JS that wanted Charlie Whitehust proving that JS is not perfect. It was JS that pushed hard for Russell Wilson to be selected in the 2nd round. Pete had is eye on Bobby Wagner and he liked RW, but probably not as much as JS. We allowed our prior middle LB to leave in FA and were in a need for a replacement. Either way, Pete overruled JS hoping RW would be there in the next round and it played out in our favor.
Our FO is different than any in the NFL in that Pete chose who the GM would be in the hopes of creating a total cohesion in personnel decisions.
It has worked perfectly so far.

This is a week late, but I just read it and thought about this thread. This is from an article on the Niners' official website by one of their in-house writers:

Baalke has been running the 49ers draft since 2010.

49ers GM Reveals Criteria for NFL Draft WRs

Not trying to resurrect this argument or thread, per se, just read it and figured I'd post it.

49ers pick up fifth-year option on LB Aldon Smith - CBSSports.com
The 49ers exercised the fifth-year option on linebacker Aldon Smith on Friday, the team announced. It's worth $9.75 million in 2015, and is only guaranteed if he suffers a major injury in 2014, and becomes fully guaranteed next March.

ABOVE REPROACH

:laugh3:

There's no risk here. He'll be in jail by then and they'll never have to part with the money. Just ties him up in case the Raiders want to trade.
