Glutton for punishment I guess.

And I agree on Choo. I wasn't suggested he be benched. But if we want to get Choice some ABs, then give Choo 1/2 game off against some lefties, and play Choice in LF. Much rather see Choo be the DH than Moreland against a guy like Lee.

But I don't want to start second guessing Wash when the season is only 8 hours old. Just bantering some thoughts around is all.

I gotcha. Question is, how long will it take for choice to start getting in the lineup on the regular?

Cruz, hit a game wining HR for the O's today. Probably would of helped too much today b/c the issue was really pitching but I bad feeling he is going to have a great year with the O's.

Maybe he will, maybe he won't. Regardless, not signing him looks to be the correct move for Texas.

If ya ask me I say- out of anyone- he really earned his spot on the everyday line up until proven otherwise. I mean he probably was our best player this spring. He should have started today IMO. Guess they are going to commit to Moreland though. I'm not against Morland or anything but I think Choice earned the shot and should be the everyday DH and rotate giving the OF a break.

Time will tell. Depends on how both he and Choo's season compares the end of the season. They really do have different roles though, which can make them a little more difficult to compare. Choice has really emerged though.

It's not a matter of choo or Cruz imo. It's Cruz our choice.

Lineup buffoonery that doesn't pass the American Legion/high school ball sanity check is the hallmark of what we can expect from Wash. I don't care if it is OD ... you put your best lineup on the field based on the pitching match ups and who is swinging the hot bats. That didn't happen today... no surprise to me.

Somebody is going to say it was the pitching that failed ... well we can talk about who should have been on the mound too ... am just focused on the lineup at this point.

If you aren't doing everything to win every game then you are a crappy manager.

I flip on to the Angel/Mariners game (in Anaheim) and the Angel crowd booed Cano when he came to bat. Swear. If this isn't the height of hypocrisy I don't know what is.

And Trout drills a 2 run homer off King Felix in the 1st. Hamilton promptly strikes out.

And as far as Cruz is concerned, I wish him well, liked him and appreciated all he did. But he/us are better off with him in another uniform IMO.

I suppose you can look at it either way. I'm looking at it from a FA standing point. In that we were looking for an OF this off season and it was always going to be just one guy Choo ir Cruz (or maybe even someone else).

But from a positional standpoint, I agree, it would be Cruz or Choice. Because had we signed Cruz, he would likely have taken on the role that Choice should be doing DH/rest OF. Even though Choo's defense isn't much-if any better than Cruz's, you are not going to DH that sort of contract in its first year.

I know what your saying but Choice has won me over as DH/OF and Rios as our RF. That leaves no room for Cruz or Morales later.

I want Choice starting no matter what...as Rangerdude and Romeo said the man has damn earned it. I don't care if he's a rookie and 24 years old. As for Choo sitting against lefties many times I can tell you that it's not going to happen. I'm sorry but you're not going to make a 130-140 million dollar investment for a guy to start against predominantly righties. I think we give The Bitch til June 1 and if he's still up to his same ol same ol then it's time to cut bait. I don't care if it's Chris Davis 2.0...at some point you cant force someone to really put things together and figure it out while they're on your watch when you're already on season number 5.

Yes the pitching all sucked today but Tanner starting today was absolutely inexcusable. As soon as I heard this last week my mouth was opened and was in shock. How can you feel comfortable Perez starting Game 163 and not trust him enough to start opening day? Wash needs to be called out here as well as anybody that supported this thought and decision.

Choice has won me over there as well. I guess what did leave out is if for some reason we had signed Cruz, then I don't think we would have signed Choo and then Choice would be the everyday LF instead- at this point anyway, given with what we now know about Choice. This assumes Cruz is on a 1-2 year contract b/c if that's the case you really want your youngster getting a lot of experience in the field since he would likely be the replacement when the contract expires anyway. Since Choo is locked up for a while- he is our LF of the future, so Choice wouldn't take as much OF time from him.

It would be really nice for choice to just strangle that DH role and make moreland expendable. We were talking about signing morales and trading moreland for a pitcher, but maybe choice can be our morales, so to speak. Save money and a pick

For sure, not putting him on this field is a disservice to the team at this point. You want your best guys out there and over the spring, he very well might have been the best guy overall!
