Tough choice I know, but who's the best CB to ever play in the NFL?

I'm not listing current players as their story is still being told. Plenty of men have wow'd us early on only to not do so well in later years.

I was always big on Ronnie Lott, that man could hit. He'd ring his own bell and the other guys. He'd get up 5 min later and the receiver 10 min later

Rod Woodson, before his injury, was pretty amazing too.

Lott was a safety for a part of his career but I agree. He is and always will be my favorite player of all time.

Please do your homework. In listing 11 men I had to do some homework to come up with a solid list and Herb, for example, was shockingly good. As were both Dick LeBeau and Lane.

I didn't list Ronnie Lott as he played most of his career at S, not CB.

It wasn't an easy choice as, like I said, I did my homework.

I had to go with Rod because he was an outstanding cover corner that could hit.

That being said, there really is no wrong answer on this.

Sorry Mrs. Crabtree, do I have to sit in the corner? I'll go with Deion, Woodson close second signed Theodore

Hadn't most of the guys on that list already retired thirty years ago? In addition to the fact that CBs were then allowed to ****** receivers in ways that they now cannot, I doubt that many posters saw a lot of the guys on that list even play. Makes it kind of tough to compare, say, Dick Lane to Rod Woodson.

LOL Didn't know that we are not allowed to type a two syllable word the starts with the letter "m" and rhymes with "Celeste".

Tough but not impossible. Also remember that teams ran the ball a lot more back then as well.

Another poster asked about Charles Woodson. He's still playing, so he didn't make the list.

To me that help makes my point about how problematic it is to rank players from different eras. For example, if Deion played when teams were run-heavy offensively, do you think he'd even make the list of GOAT CBs?

On the other hand, for players like Night train to put up the stats they did in a run heavy era is impressive. No?

Neon Deion will always be an overwhelming favorite because of his big mouth and all the flash. I can think of four corners playing today I'd take over Deion in his prime.
