It's not a stretch at all.
99% of the usage of that word will be black players referring to other black players. That by default makes it a rule targetted to specific players, making it discrimination.
I have no problems with us removing that word from the human language. What I do have a problem with is poorly conceived rules that are discriminatory in nature and practice.
We aren't talking about banning all offensive language. We're talking about banning ONE word. So if I was in the league, and called a hispanic player a wetback, I wouldn't get flagged. Or a jewish player a kike. Or whatever slur I choose is A OKAY as long as we dont' say ****er.
That's just inane and stupid. And NOW we're asking officials to spend time not only looking at actual rules violations on the field, but to be listening to every discussion and word every player says.
I'm sorry, but it's moronic. The rule has no place in the sport. The ONLY solution if you're going to implement this is to ban ALL offensive language, which is basically impossible.
The idea that some of you think guys can be fully emotionally into the game, and be Ward Cleavers at the same time, is laughable.
Bullshit, black, white, green, whatever, take a poll and the word is offensive, if a white person says it to a black person it is offensive, therefore the word is offensive, I don't care what black football players think of it, I guarantee black people in general think it is offensive.
