Apparently the Sea Hawks are about to cut him loose. Obviously claiming him of waivers would be a bad idea because his base over the next two years is around $9 million a clip. But if we signed him for around half or less of that amount, he is only 27 and he is 6'4" with decent speed. Would not make a bad #2 or #3 WR for the right price.

There is a reason the Shehawks are cutting him loose. No thanks!

No waivers as he is a vested Veteran...straight to Free Agent status....

I am not a big fan of his...HE CANT STAY HEALTHY!!!!

If we could get for Vet Min...maybe, but anymore then thatI think would be a foolish investment..he has missed more games in his career, then he has played in!!!

I think his cap number compared to production is why he was cut. Getting him on the cheap could be well worth it to at least try. Before injuries this guy was a match up nightmare. Now does he still have that same speed and ability who knows as we haven't had a chance to see him but for a one year prove it kind of deal with a low cap number but plenty of incentives it could definitely be worth it for a team to take a chance on him.

He seems like a better add by a team that already has a 1 and 2...not a team that desperately needs a 2. I personally would avoid anyone with a injury history. Just my opinion. Also again...best and really only good year....was with Favre during his last hoorah

The team already has a #2, it needs a #1 and possibly a slot guy. So if he can be gotten for the price of a #3 then I say take the risk.

Was this guy a vital piece in the Seahawks SB run? Dont remember hearing his name mentioned. Hmmm, winning team doesnt want him because they already have studs catching passes...no, thats not true...just average wideouts. Why dont they want this mega star....maybe because he aint one. Got a fat payday off one year. Another primadonna. Like oth er s have mentioned. He gets hurt to easy. He belongs in Dallas...they love those types of receievers.

Hey, Im not lobbying for or against. I just know we have a need. And when healthy the guy does have the size and Skills we need. SO I was just posing a question. Because the other option is likely to take some other Free Agent WR on the expensive tip.

And Sty, I disagree, we have a #1 WR, we need a #2, #3 and so forth. But to bring in what you consider a #1 in FA is going to be just short of impossible.

Sydney Rice is being cut for cap reasons, not because he isn't capable.

That being said, I wouldn't offer anything for him because he doesn't play STs and is injured all the time.

This and he was the 4th best receiving option on the team at WR. Not sure why he had so little production, but I would probably pass on him as a #2 for sure.

If he could get through a whole season, he would be a great #2.
He may not match up too well against the #1 CB on the opposing team, but he could tear up the #2 CB.
I would go after him at veteran minimum, definitely worth a shot at that price.

Though he's stayed hurt, I am still a fan. For the right price, he would be worth taking, perhaps with a incentive-based contract. I love his size and playmaking ability. I forgot he's only 27. Wow! It seems like he's been in the league forever. He really doesn't have the leverage to command a huge deal. That would be an advantage the Redskins should look into taking.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this issue. I really do believe that Washington would do well to go all out in finding our version of Megatron, Bryant, Green, Jones et. al. Personally I'm not one to settle with merely beating other teams but would much rather field a team that causes the opposition to pick its poison by either doubling up on our pass catchers or allowing them to run free because they want to stop the run. Having P. Garcon as the #1 IMO means that doubling or stopping him leaves a weaker #2 to carry the load. Having our own version of the aforementioned types to double leaves P. Garcon to destroy the opposition. It may or may not be possible to get this guy in FA, but there's still the draft.

Hmmm....just where do you find those guys? They don't exactly grow on trees. There is maybe 1 or 2 every draft that have a chance to reach this level. Most don't make it. Watkins in this draft has the potential, but we have no shot. There is no one in FA that comes close to those guys. Stymie, you're going to have to accept that fact that Garcon is OUR #1 WR for the foreseeable future. It would take one of those guys to push him to #2, but were not getting one of those guys.

Didn't say one of those guys, but OUR version, meaning the team acquires a receiver that coach Gruden desires and believes will excel in his system. Say, just as an example, Kenny Britt. Then say he's correct in his assessment and Britt becomes one of those guys that teams cannot single cover, now we have OUR version of those other guys, Garcon becomes the go to guy because Britt is doubled most of the time, doesn't this make Garcon even more dangerous??
BTW; it is a sad commentary when people are willing to settle for less than what's possible, but if you're happy with a career #2 as our #1 I can't deny your right to do so. I just hope that prior to this season the "forseeable future" is realized.
